Miami must be a placeholder for the ACC champ (as is usually shown).

It might be setting up the worst possible case for ND. They dont have the win quality and lost the h2h agaisnt miami. I mean, their scheudle might be the worst of the contenders. Outside of miami and us they just played a lot of stinkers.

Vandy is a really solid team. Would rather play the Tide than Vandy. Whither Texas?

It will be smu or virgina. I suppose a team like james Madison could somehow end up higher ranked than either of those but miami can only be an at large team.

If we had one loss (to Texas) and it was our first game of the season instead of last game, we'd likely be #4 right now. Our resume is better than Tech (even if they win big 12), and Oregon's, and Ole Miss (who may be coachless shortly). Falling behind all of them would be frustrating.

Presuming the chalk holds, I think it's more likely they bump Miami (presuming ACC champ) up to 9 or 10 and drop ND (lost head to head), and Bama is replaced by Vandy at 10 or 11 if they lose the SEC championship. Point being, I don't mind a matchup against Vandy or Miami.

I also think once they have their 12, they'll play with the rankings to maximize viewership, which is why I think they like the idea of pushing a team like ND down a spot to have more attractive 1st round matchups. Highly doubt they want any repeat opponents for ratings.

This would have us playing Bama at home. Would love to play a team we wouldn't normally play during the regular season...like Tulane.

Miami cannot be the acc champ.

It will be Virginia, smu or duke(I think at this point). I think miami has been eliminated but its really hard to tell.

This means another team, unless its Duke, will take an auto bid. Miami will be ranked 10 or 11 if they get in.

Who has Oregon beaten? USC at home? That win is better than us beating ND at their place? Plus they lost a home game and our loss was to a rival at their place. Make it make sense.

Alabama has more points against Auburn early in the 2nd Qtr, than we scored all game at home against Auburn.

I agree. I can see why we'd fall behind Ole Miss, but not Oregon. But they've already moved Oregon ahead of Ole Miss.

Ole Miss being below them is even worse imo.
