I agree. Miami needed a reason for the committee to have to choose between them and dame. I think they are there.

But the committee seems to completely discount or bonus competition level whenever they need to justify whatever decision they want to make.

Notre dame schedule is absolutely putrid and they lost the two meaningful ones. Theyve look really good agaisnt really terrible competition. Look it up. Awful.

big rivalry games on the road are hard to win. Look at us. No such thing for OU. playing a non-rival at home.

it will be really interesting if BYU can pull the upset

when it's all said and done it will make very little sense other than to try to set up the best tv matchups and potential second round games

it's only about the money.

ND will boat race OU

I thought alabama would. They didn't. Thought other teams would - they didn't.

OU id one of those programs that ive just not wanted to accept. Winning on Texas talent all those years. Is norman oklahoma a really great destination?

It just is what it is i guess.

would be nothing surprising about being the most disrespected 1-loss team.

We currently can't beat any of the teams listed above us. Heck, we might not be able to beat ND right now.

Whomever tech plays in the playoffs will be ghe ebst team they'll faced all season. That's practically guaranteed

This is true of almost every team in the top 12.

Kiffin going to LSU will move Ole Miss down to last 1 loss team spot, maybe more. Which would place A&M at 6.

Match up with Indiana in quarter finals would be better than Oregon.

I agree that Kiffin leaving Ole Miss may very well cost them a seed spot. I could easily see A&M getting a 6 seed on the final draw playing ACC winner..

Wait, where is Texas?

Not in the conversation.

In reality, probably 15th in the next poll

There must be a typo then.

We were assured that texas was in at 9-3 by so many posters here

random question...

the Rose Bowl is a quarterfinal game this year

which top 4 seed would be selected to play there? (if Oregon doesn't reach the top 4)

some preference is supposed to be given for geography

The committee guidelines say they follow bowl-conference affiliations.

I think SOR and SOS will be key for tie-breaker scenarios of 11-1 teams and Ags already led both metrics relative to Ducks and Rebels before this weekend so why would a loss drop us below them?

Not in the SOS used by committee.

Oregon has no business being ahead of us or Ole Miss. Their best win was at home against a mid, non-playoff USC team.
W

so Ohio State or Indiana would travel to California for the quarterfinal

if the Ags can win their playoff game at Kyle...

they might not have to travel far for the quarterfinal

ACC champ has an auto - bid? Will either be SMU or Virginia? Someone in that list won't make it
Technically, the auto bid goes to the 5 highest ranking conference champions. SEC, B1G, and Big 12 are definitely in. It's assumed ACC plus AAC will get the other 2 spots, but a fun scenario to think about is what the committee will do if Duke wins the ACC and finishes 8-5. Does the committee prefer JMU who could win the Sun Belt and finish 12-1?

Exactly.
There are 102,733 reasons why the committee is delighted we lost to sip and will fall into a first round host slot. Outside of Alabama, no other first round team will have six-figure capacity. Not even close.

Not in the SOS used by committee.

Let's see what their so called BS formulas show when Lane goes to LSU today.

Assuming Georgie and Ohio State win the conference champ games, the only question to me is Oregon or Tech the 4 seed. Oregon should be above them but they might put Tech at 4 bc they won their conference.

That won't face any affect on SoS

I don't think they will drop ole miss. I think they did that last week. My guess is they keep them as lowest 1 loss team team from the big 2 conferences

Oh

That's my point, they are just stating whatever they like to justify their rankings. Guess you missed what I was inferring.

Oh wait, we both think they will be at 7 Tuesday already, just for different reasoning.

I think A&M will be at 5 or 6. The committee isn't going to risk 3 Big 10 teams in the top 4. If they put Oregon at 5 and Georgia wins and Tech loses they'd have to come up with an excuse to move A&M or Ole Miss over Oregon to 4. Its easier for them if A&M was already at 5.

ESPN has us 6. That would be hosting UVA, then neutral v UGA (I like) then Indiana, then natty. I like that better than what is posted at top of this thread.

Agree with someone else above that Tech should not be in top 4 with the ASU lossbut it was their backup qb.

I could see us being 5 or 6. We still look objectively better than Ole Miss and maybe Oregon and maybe Tech. Tech can hurt themselves v BYU.

I would take that gladly: We beat Bama at home, knock the Hoosiers out next, take out Georgia in the Final Four and finish up with the Buckeyes!
