Did it feel like our game plan was so intentionally vanilla?
To the point where our staff was okay with a loss, therefore not playing the meaningless SECCG and prepping for playoffs…
Again, not saying that is actually the case but could there have been instructions from Elko to staff to not pull out all the stops for this game?

their really was never a tangible sense of urgency last night. I think the mentality of being "guaranteed" a playoff spot left our players and coaches unmotivated

Yeah hmm 11 games in and the brilliant idea of not breaking out the play book.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
This is along the lines of what I was feeling..
Not intentional, but looked as though it could have been due to the lack of comprehensive team urgency

After seeing Elko in the presser, that seems very unlikely. He was pissed and embarrassed..

I will say that it looked like our players were struggling with footing on the tu turf. Lot's of slips and trips - including Marcel turning his ankle. I wonder if the guys in the trenches were also not getting good leverage due to poor traction. My impression is tu has perfected the type of shoe needed for their turf.

He was absolutely pissed and aggravated.
Chalk it up for just a piss poor night across the board.

We just haven't fell flat uniformly all season.

I do not think Elko could tolerate going into a game planning for a halfassed effort. Defensive coaches aren't built like that. They have one speed.

Lol no. Not even close. Not even a little bit. As others have said this is Grade A Copium.

If I had to guess, I think we were just really trying to avoid the avalanche we've had happen several times this year (LSU 2Q, SC 1H) and stay in the game as long as possible. It was definitely a conservative game plan, that signals (at least to me) that this team/staff don't feel confident in our ability to control a game anymore.

But I'm just speculating. This team has just looked so different week to week, I'm not sure what is "real" and what is an anomaly.

If Elko is as smart as we're told there is zero chance of this. He was fighting to play in the SEC Championship and a bye in the first round of playoffs. That and the game being "the game" makes it mind boggling that he might attempt such a gambit. Sadly, he and Klein simply got out coached, again.

Klein has a history of calling bad games now against Texas both at A&M and Kansas State.

Our coaches wanted to win but holding Moss out tells me they did not use everything we could to win this one.

His being "pissed off" schtick is growing old already. He had one ****ing job and failed miserably at it again on national tv to his in state rival. He and Klein **** down their leg in the biggest game of the season thus far. The fans should be mad, he should be embarrassed

Things that have been apparent all season finally bit us in the ass.

1. Stupid ass penalties (false starts)
2. Cutsie play calling by Klein
3. Tackling

All 3 reared their ugly head last night. Can't overcome it when all 3 happen.

Read it. You're wrong. Winters and champion mindsets don't plan to lose.

If you want to compare to NFL, we just shifted ourselves into the wild card race opposed to a guaranteed slot. The SEC CG isn't a meaningless post season speed bump. There's real money on the line for the program and the school to make that game.

The results may have been flat, but that was no way the plan.

What was our game plan? I mean, essentially zero down field passes, no creativity, no establishment of run game, very little use of Marcel legs (I get it he was banged up a little).
Defense played semi-well but felt like they being preventative most of the night, just trying to keep big plays from happening.

I don't think they planned to lose.
I think being guaranteed a spot in the playoffs affected their game plan and team attitude towards this game specifically.

No. The offensive gsme plan and reed's execution were just that bad. We under used our te and never exploited weak lbs. Defensively we sacrificed pressure for gap sound/ containment. For the most part that worked on the run but gave manning ample time to throw the ******* ball. In hindsight should have dialed up more pressure and knocked him out of the game

Agree, when went up 7 in the second quarter, we went into the old RC prevent offense and defense. We played scared the rest of the way. Gutless, IMO.

Same gameplan we have had all year. Reed has lived on passes near the LOS and only run when in dire need. It worked really well until last night

That was my confusion as well. Why would we allow him to have so much time to throw. It has been clear all season he executes poorly under pressure.

Klein is about as mid as it gets. Look no further than how he acts when the camera shows him in the booth. Constant nervous energy hoping his plays will work instead of knowing what to call given a situation.

He's been bailed out this year by KC and Craver and a naturally maturing OL, but he still after 2 years is trying to make Marcel into a pocket passer when he is clearly a one maybe two read RPO guy.

I have been underwhelmed by Klein as well.
Not sure how the masses feel, but I agree he has not used Marcel correctly and continues to try and form him into something he isn't.

The game plan, play book, effort, and lack of adjustment sure makes OP theory plausible. That's how bad it was. The other team wanted it way more. Elko should be embarrassed. He's been out coached by Sark twice out of 2 times now. It looked like we came into this game without any plan. He did not earn a dime.
