It's different and certainly removes voter bias from the system:

1) Every FBS school starts off with 100 marbles, plus 10 bonus marbles for every power conference opponent on their schedule

2) Beat your opponent at your home place or neutral site (including conference championships), take 20% of their marbles; beat your opponent at their home place, take 25% of their marbles

3) Fractional marbles are rounded to nearest whole number. For example, if you beat an opponent with 210 marbles at their place, you would get 25% of their 210, 52.5, which would be rounded up to 53.

4) If you beat an FCS opponent, you get nothing. If you lose to an FCS opponent, they get 25% of your marbles. Because FU coward.

Kinda cool system but big wins at start of season don't reward you as much.

Maybe a little ongoing tax of other teams ongoing winnings that you've beat until you lose one.

Keep in mind IU has already played 11 games. Thats why they have several more marbles than A&M. Neither team will gain marbles this week.

So the strength of the opponent is irrelevant as long as they are in a major conference?

Obvious flaw: It considers all P4 wins equivalent.

Not really… better teams will have more marbles, and beating them gives you a percentage of a larger amount.

But the pie gets bigger as the season goes on. If you beat them early on you deserve some of their continued success.

I agree with this - we get less credit for our ND win. It still matters who you play, but it also matters when you play them.

I don't think we've gained any ground since week 2 and won't have the opportunity to until seccg

When you beat a team you should continue to get a percentage of the marbles they win in their future wins. That would help even out beating a good team early.

Devil's advocate, teams change and can often get better as the season goes on. Look at 2010. We changed QB's mid season and rolled off 6 wins.
