I want to play as many games as possible. I understand injuries blah blah blah but this is football and part of the game. I want more games not less.

Because it drastically improves the odds of a national championship. Pretty simple.

If we keep winning, we will get a bye. In order us for to not get a bye, we would need to lose, probably twice. Are you saying you want us to lose games so we can play more games?

I guess I am. New territory here.

So? Last year was last year and based on conference championships not rankings.

Becuase you can't lose a bye. This is not hard.

This is not last year. You want a bye. The bracket will not have an easy quarter round game.

Only have to play two of

Indiana
Ohio State
Bama
To win it all.

No Bye would most likely mean playing all 3 after the 1st round game.

We want a first round bye because it dramatically increases the odds of winning the national championship. Yes, the 4 teams that hard first round bye all lost their first playoff games last year, but having one fewer playoff game means an easier path to the national championship game. Without a bye week, we would have to win 4 playoff games to win it all.

That tends to happen when the idiots that made the bracket allowed lower rated teams higher in the bracket than the teams that beat them.

There's a reason they changed it.

Go undefeated and we get an extra game => SEC championship game in ATL.

I hope we go 12-0 and go against Bama in the SEC title game.

Its a free game, playing with house money. Gives the team a chance to see where they stack up against a top 5 team. Win or lose, we still probably get a 1st round bye. But it would be good to get that "first loss" over with before the playoffs. Because once the playoffs come around, there are no do-overs or second chances.

They also all made the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Bingo!

Does what you rolled last in Yahtzee change the odds for the next roll of Yahtzee?

And 50% of the first round teams also lost.

Or win the SEC and get the 1st or 2nd seed.

It also means we knocked the sips from playoff contention.

Some of you do not have critical thinking skills.

Here is another thing OP and others have not thought of.

The higher seeds get preferential treatment for quarter final game location.

So, we most likely are playing in Arlington in our quarterfinal game.

But if we do not get a bye, we could end up anywhere in the quarter final round. Such as Pasadena or Miami.

One year does not a trend make. We want home field advantage in the second round.

Even if you believe you have a 90% chance to win a Top12 game. Do you want to play 3 or 4 games to a national championship?

Now apply that to a 50/50 chance.

Even if you remove last years goofy seeding format, Uga & Oregon were widely considered the favorites of the playoffs...

They both got smoked

Not saying I wouldn't prefer the bye but the automatic assumption that the bye is the advantage may get tested over the next few years

Iron sharpens iron & the first round game could provide benefits in the 2nd round w respect to being dialed in vs coming off roughly a month long break

Except after 1 year of a 12 team playoff, the BYE teams are batting .000.

Wasn't Oregon an underdog to Ohio State?

I don't think we should have a conference championship game anymore since we now have playoffs ... in short, one less game

The link you posted were updated odds after first round was played (you're helping make the point that I proposed as a probability)

Initial odds had Oregon up front, followed by sip & Uga/osu

My guess is the clemson- asu path to the semis drove those odds for sip

Does the home team get all the money for the first round? Is it divided with the away team? Or what?

1 less chance to be beaten, home field advantage , allow existing injuries to heal, less chance at injuries that take out a key player/players. Other than that I can't think of any reasons to want a bye.

Beside all of that the only way we don't get a bye is to lose a game. Is OP hoping we lose a game?
