Show me a single instance this year or last where we faked an injury?

Where you perceive malice, I look for context. There is no context in our program.

Past performance does not guarantee future results.

Feel free to watch the previous two plays I've posted as context.

Or you can just keep deferring to your wife who is obviously an expert.

Both can be true... he was injured and we utilized it to gain an advantage. If you watch the series as someone mentioned earlier Chappel wanted to come off or was gassed and the coaches said he had to keep playing and suck it up as coaches often do. Then when he got beat like a drum the next play I'm sure the coaches up top were on the headset to get him out and then the GA signaled for him to go down. Yes it was an attempt to game the system to not have to sub or use a timeout for an injured player but I dont feel like it was an attempt to simply just slow down the Hog tempo becuse we had been dealing with their pace of play all game and they had not done anything extrememlly different on that drive with regard to hurry up or no huddle.

That's fair and I'll take back what I said about him faking the injury.

I deferred to her exactly one (1) time...and she clearly knows more football than you do.

The rule is clear and explicit. Once the ball is set for play, any injury occurring after that point will be subject to the penalty. And, if after the powers that be review all external details and additional financial penalty is in order, it is assessed.

If Chappell was so hurt for two plays leading up to this, either he or the coaching staff should have removed him from the game. But we didn't. We waited 'til Arkansas was cramming it down our throats (again) before Chappell somehow sustained a cramp in his knee joint.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Whatever it was, the previous plays are clear that it wasnt just a sudden fake. He had already been trying to come off the field. Chalk it up to coaching incompetence if you want. But it wasn't a fake to slow down Arkansas. So the fine is ridiculous.

But believe what you want. It's clear you defer to emotion before taking into account context.

I don't care if he was faking it when it was everyone else that made it part of the game. It's the fact that we were the first and only to have been fined that tells you everything you need to know.

Looks like something instigated by sips to play mind games with Elko about a possible suspension. It would be great if our Interim President would meet with Elko and AD and find out exactly what happened.

If it was a real injury he needs to have a zoom with Stankey and give him a serious ass chewing. There was over 12 minutes left in the game and we were charged a timeout.

If you have played ball you know a severe cramp can hit you at any time without warning.

It also doesn't make sense in the context of time. We were at 12:30 left in the 4th Q. Had they been driving for a winning score with 2 minutes left, I could buy it.

There's a first time for everything.

Chappell wasn't even a part of the tackle. He was perfectly fine. Looked over to the sideline and then suddenly fell down on his ass.

If that ain't faking an injury, I don't know what is.

Take off your Aggie blinders.

Can someone please timestamp this video? I remember the play and seem to remember Chappel seeing fine afterward but then, next thing I see, he is down. But I would like to see video again but these links take me back to start of game.

I agree. If we were not in the top 25 you wouldn't hear a peep. This is just the start for the rest of the season imho. Hope I'm wrong.

You are not wrong. Powers to be are pissed that texas is not in the top 3 instead of the Aggies. Watch for LSU to get all kinds of favorable calls Saturday night.

Do y'all really believe the "prove it" crap you're demanding? Did you not watch the game? Heck...my wife even pointed out in real time he was faking an injury and she knows NOTHING about football. I am of the mindset the punishment should have been much more harsh. The injury faking garbage is completely bush league (yes...even if we are the ones doing it).

I actually wish the punishment for this type of garbage was more harsh and included suspension of the player as well...or at least making the player sit out the rest of the game.

I like Coach Elko a whole lot, but I hope he's throwing a chair at the staffer who was on the sidelines telling our guy to get down.

I agree with this post. Further, I would like to see this rule evenly applied. Ole Miss did a slew of these in recent years and I don't recall anything being done about it.

The rule just went into effect this season...mainly because of what folks like Ole Miss did in the past.

Is this the first time an SEC team has had a questionable injury that may have been faked?

Was this the most egregious occurrence?

Unfortunately, I doubt the answer is yes to either of these questions.

It was so blatant and repeated by Ole Miss, as I recall I'm multiple games, that even SEC Shorts and Roll Call were calling them out.

fake injury fines = the new targeting (remember how that was also disproportionately enforced against us?)

Interesting, is the SEC fined for the performance of their referees? Do they compensate schools for poor performance of their employees that may change the outcome of a game?

Man, I wish the referees could be penalized for their bad calls. Like so much off their paychecks each month? Some of it is just egregious.

First time ive seen it this year. Im not going back to look but it happened several times last year. If they weren't fakes we have the best training staff in the world because our guys would come back it a few plays later. It bothers me so when it happens I make a mental note to see how fast the player comes back in the game or what they are doing medically on the sideline. We did use it strategically last year when we couldn't sub to give our big guys a breather. I don't know if it's less or more then other teams because I don't see everybody else games.

Have you ever had a cramp? One second you are OK and the next you are withering in pain.

I'm at the age now where a cramp will wake me up in the middle of the night. Makes me so mad to miss that extra 10 minutes of sleep!!! LOL!!

SIAP, but I wonder if some of the elites have told Snakey that they're concerned about Elko's success in the future... huge enrollment, huge alumni base, many NIL donors, etc... so maybe he could encourage Elko to seek a more welcoming conference?
