And yet they've been wrong all year about us. Especially about a number of teams still ahead of us.

We're not the third best team in the country.

This is a very good team that had potential to be a threat deep into the playoffs.

Too many dumb penalties. Defensive lapses. Reed is brilliant at times, but not consistently. Calling him a streak shooter is spot-on.

He has us ranked 11, which is total BS.

We're better than Texas, notre dame, Texas tech, and usc. That's seems obvious

I generally think rankings are dumb to beign with, at least 1-25.

I think grouping would be better

In no particular order, each group made up of teams of their relative peers to this point

Group 1- osu, iu, tamu, Bama, Oregon

Group 2- uga, ND, Miami, gt, vandy

Group 3- tt, byu, usc, Ole miss, mizzou,

Group 4- ou, Virginia, Louisville, UT, Cincinnati

I also said this team needs to figure out how to play all four quarters consistently. We are about to find out either way the next two games.

Not on the post I responded to. Not sure what you arent grasping here. I don't read every post and see who posted it. Sorry I didn't check to see if he made another post saying something different than what I responded to.

After tsips at Kentucky, our odds should be more like 84% against the sips.

But we only play one game a week, so if we keep winning that we should be ok.

Metrics are supposed to measure something…so that's not really what these are.

Don't understand a deep run in the playoffs but aren't good enough to be #3. A deep run would be semifinals at least. So that's 3 or 4.

Our 3rd down defense is 22.7%

That is good enough for 2nd place behind Osu.

This is a power rating, not a ranking. We've played 3-4 Auburn and 2-5 Arkansas to one-score games, plus had some less-than-impressive G5 wins. Most power ratings don't really have us as an elite team, and it is not that surprising.

As our schedule worked out, we have also played only one of our 4 toughest games (on paper) so far, but any power rating system worth its salt will have us projected somewhere between 1-2 wins for the set of @LSU, @Mizzou, and @tu. Given how much our conference opponents have tanked our SOS, we're going to lose tie-breakers with Georgia. That means that at least one of these three things have to happen for us to play in Atlanta: we have to go undefeated, Georgia has to lose one of their remaining three conference games, or Alabama has to lose two of its remaining four conference games. There is definitely a chance of those things happening, but the more likely case (at least according to the numbers) is that we miss out on the SEC championship game and get an at-large playoff berth.

Everyone has played Auburn and Arkansas (sans ND) to one score games. Maybe those teams are better than Aggies want to give them credit for.

We may not be quite as good as #3 in the country, but we aren't as bad as this one says at 11.

A couple other advanced models have us at 7. So the truth is literally right in the middle.

Maybe, but what teams have? Name 3 other teams that have no blemishes? Even in wins?

Ohio state who beat a lowly Texas team by 7, and then Illinois by 18 when Indiana beat them by 56.

Indiana who while have been impressive, beat Iowa by 5 who isn't any better than a lot of the teams we have beat, and old dominion by 13.

Oregon who lost to that Indiana team?

Bama who lost to Florida state?

ND who lost twice including to us?

Georgia who lost to bama and who auburn actually statistically played much better than they did us?

Where are they this year? There is not team running away with it this year, and on a neutral field we can realistically hang with anyone based on what I have seen.

The chart says the calculation is a power rating not a power ranking. So it's a predictive tool that would be used for gambling and not a resume evaluation like the AP poll. It likely has roster talent and previous year's records heavily weighted into the calculation. That's why tu and even penn st don't drop much despite losses and obvious deficiencies.

Depends on your definition. Most have us around 7 in terms of efficient metrics. ESPN fei, bcftoys, etc. that's borderline elite. If not on the top tier this year because quite frankly, no one looks unbeatable.

Also, we dominated Auburn. Way more so than Georgia or Oklahoma did. It took a goal line stand (and arguably terrible call) for Georgia to win. It took basically a 14 point swing interception when we were driving to make it close for us to win. Yes, advanced metrics realize that stuff.

It's not like Iowa is any better than Auburn (don't care about the records) and number 2 Indiana beat them by 5. They also beat old dominion by 13. If we did that, most on here would say we were overrated at #2.

So many advanced metrics actually do take all of that into account. The advanced metrics. Most say we have played around 7. And I think we can actually play better. Some of the teams ahead of us do not look any better. It would be a pick em on a neutral field. ND is one of those teams and we beat them at their place.

key is improvement during season. Are we constantly improving? Based on Arkansas game, the defense is not.

Power ratings are silly because they are basically only a "how good is your roster and how badly do you beat bad teams" metric.

Oregon jumped Alabama and Notre Dame for beating up on a bottom 5 P4 team. Come on, man.

Texas is way down that list. In terms of how badly they beat teams. Must really be taking the on paper roster into account. In fact, Kentucky on a play to play basis actually whipped Texas and gave that game away. No clue how they derive their rankings but it's pretty awful the more you look at it.
