We have a tough 3 game road stretch. This is the point where we fall off the map every year. Put away Arky, LSU, and Missou on the road next three weeks and our resume, ranking, and BAS will improve

If we can show CONSITANT positive production throughout games we'd get a bit more respect. Not just showing up for a half or a quarter. Getting there but not quite yet. What game this year have you felt confident from the go that we would be winning the game??

4. Texas A&M
5. Ole Miss

Did I see that right?

Ohio State, Indiana & Miami do NOT ANY RANKED Teams remaining on their schedule!

I think Indiana deserves to be #3, but to people that make it sound iron clad that their schedule has been more impressive, I think it all comes down to assumptions.

Basically, the assumption that Oregon is elite.

We thought that was validated against PSU, but they've completely imploded and Oregon beat them in double OT.

If Oregon proves to be top 15 (but not top 3), then you could make a case that Indiana hasn't done a ton.

I hate the whole "when they played them" argument. It's bitten us in the ass already a few times. OU got a pretty big bump for beating Auburn. A&M beats Auburn in a game that was much more dominant, and basically gets nothing for it. Miami still gets more cred for beating ND at home than A&M did on the road, because it was their 2nd loss.

Ultimately it doesn't matter and I'm fine with Indiana at #3 right now - just pointing out that a lot of that is making assumptions about what schools like Oregon & Illinois are, and I'm not sure those assumptions can be totally validated right now. Same way Bama gets a ton of credit for beating UGA because we assume UGA is awesome, but UGA barely beat a Tennessee team that barely beat an Arkansas team that ND absolutely trounced and embarrassed.

Obviously you can't use the transitive property cleanly, but that's really all anyone else is doing.

Which is ridiculous, they've beat nobody. What's their best win? Arkansas?

Sip jumping from unranked to 17 is ridiculous. They exposed a bad OU team yesterday. Usually takes the good guys 2 games or more to get ranked at 24 after dropping out.

One thing for sure, there are no dominant teams this year. The fact that an LSU team with an offense that has looked like warmed over dog **** all season is Top 10 tells you all you need to know.

I mean even Ohio State has not really shown much on offense against their cupcake schedule.

WRT Notre Dame, at least they have been beating the crap out of the ****ty teams they've been playing. Nothing like Ole Miss struggling to beat an awful WSU at home.

The Hoosiers at 3 just sounds weird. It's A if Duke or Kansas would be there. I'm not even mad at it.

I want to believe..I really do. It's been fun so far but history says we may not even be ranked at the end of this season. Yep, I said it. I hope we run the table and break whatever late season woes we continue to have, but I will enjoy it while it lasts but keep my expectations in check.

What exactly does history have to do with this team, the guys on the field and this coaching staff?

Seriously?

Its clearly bias against a&m. I wish aub and miss st didnt lose before they played us, but then the media wouldve come up with other excuses. Im already seeing media hyping up ND, josh pate is saying if they were to play again ND would be favored, ok bud. The big problem with college football is there is no standardization with schedules. If UF had IUs schedule would they also not be undefeated?

Fine with Indiana being 3. You can poke holes in our conference record all day. Our conference opponents are 1-7 combined (although 3 of those loses are to us lol).

That being said, winning at Oregon is just as impressive as winning at South Bend.

Were ranked number 4 because thats the lowest they could put us. Are you hearing the things various people are saying? Point is this team needs to keep grinding out Ws. We will not be given the benefit of the doubt for a loss. I would bet if we have one loss theyll put us below ND, and claim "well if they played again ND would win".

I'm a Tech fan and have been saying for a couple of weeks that Oregon's schedule wasn't any stronger than Tech's. And I was right.

Congrats and well deserved on the #4 ranking Ags. Hoping we both keep it up and get to play in the CFP.

Texas is at 21 in the AP after a (at the time, which is all they have to go on at this time) top 10 win. Also the AP Nos. 15, 17, 21, 22, and 25 last week picked up their 2nd or 3rd losses.

Texas bumped up from 19 to 17 in the coaches' poll. Kind of silly Texas was still at 19 before this weekend, but that's coaches for you. I doubt most of them handle it personally any way.

Which helped Ducks get over ranked.
And now Indiana.

It's called the Penn State affect.

Yeah Ohio State has the most Charmin soft schedule the rest of the way. Michigan and UCLA are the only teams with conference wins and they'll have beat two ranked teams all season. One of them being Texas and the other Illinois. Not sure where Texas finishes but... it's pretty clear they didn't deserve the number one ranking going into the season. As much crap as we (rightly) give t.u., that's not Ohio State's fault.

We get through these 3 games though and I'd be shocked if we weren't number 3. If LSU wins before they see us that will be a our 2nd top 10 match up. If Mizzou wins their games before us, they're 7-1 and likely 12-13. That'd be a lot of really solid wins in our camp if we can get them. Miami's schedule matches up favorably, but neither Ohio State nor Indiana's is close. On paper anyway.

No problem with Indiana at 3. That's where I have them. They have not only won big games, but they've looked dominant doing it. Where their wins finish up doesn't matter "right now". When I rank teams, I consider things as they are right now. Each new week is a completely new ranking, because we now have new information. Some teams that were good wins have become mediocre wins. Some that were bad losses have become not so bad losses. So teams we thought had GREAT wins don't actually really have much that looks impressive anymore. Every week should be a blank slate.

As of now, Indiana has impressive home and road wins against quality teams. Same as us. Shuffle the deck however you want.. doesn't make a difference. As long as both teams are top 5, an argument can be made.

What I have a problem with is Oregon still being top 10. Their only decent win is no longer impressive. Every 1 loss SEC team should be ahead of them, except for maybe Vanderbilt.. who's wins also haven't aged well. And while Texas has a quality win now, it's literally their only quality win. To me, they aren't back in the rankings until there aren't enough 1 loss P4 teams to make a complete top 25, or they have another quality win to show for themselves. There is nothing that proves Texas should be ranked while Mississippi State shouldn't.

At the end of the day, we are very close to no longer having to pay attention to journalists opinions. The committee goes through the proper process, and the season will play out like it always does.

Rankings don't really matter for us right now. We win the games on our schedule and we make the CFP. We melt down in the back half of the season, we don't. Rankings be damned.

I get jumping teams that win but struggle (get exposed) but the Ags whipped Florida, regardless of their record. If we beat UTSA by the same score then I'd get it.

So now I guess every team with a "better win" should jump the teams in front of them who have a "lesser win"?

And if it was the exact same score and circumstances but a ND W instead, people would be like "gritty win they found a way to get it done, thats what championship teams do"
