After week 5, we still have 5 SEC teams that are undefeated:
* Ole Miss
* Oklahoma
* Texas A&M
* Vanderbilt
* Missouri

Notable teams who already have a loss are Georgia, Alabama, LSU, tu, and UT.

What a wild year for college football so far.

Week 5 isn't that much. Most teams have only played 2-3 conference games at most.

Ole Miss and S Car have played 3 conf games. Everyone else has played 1 or 2 conference games, except tu that will play their first this week.

Based on these early results it seems very unlikely that any SEC team will finish the regular season undefeated. Might not even have any 1 loss teams.

Yup. And even so, the teams we don't like already have an L.

Could A&M be 11-0 going to Austin & then be 12-0? It's very possible with our schedule.

TU hasn't played a conference game yet…. Not surprised

I think his main point is that the teams that have made it undefeated were all expected to be middle tier at best and the top five projected in conference all have a loss.

Granted: Those losses are to FSU, tOSU, Bama, Ole Miss and UGA. But OU, A&M and Ole Miss have not played only cupcakes.

We have much higher chance of losing ALL of our away games than winning them all.

Seriously?

I get that either improbable but of the two scenarios - winning out would seem to be more probable.

You people are delusional. I mean, it would be nice. But tossing round words like "probable" is gonna get you hurt.

A bit dramatic don't you think? I doubt we win or lose them all.

We will likely be heavy favorites vs Arkansas. The rest will probably be close and we could be favorites or underdogs depending on how the other teams do the rest of the way.

We may be favorites but you can 100% guarantee that Petrino has this game highlighted, circled in bold red. This is their Super Bowl. I had @Arkansas as a loss before the season started. I still do.

No SEC game is guaranteed particularly away games. But they just fired their head coach and Petrino just fired the defensive staff. That's not a great place to start for them.

Pretty much what everyone thinks after reading any of your posts.

FYI

On SEC Now this morning they said A&M has the best chance to still be undefeated after October of all the present SEC undefeated teams. So it's not just Aggies thinking positive about us.

We may have the best chance of the current undefeated SEC teams, but I still think that chance is pretty low. We've played two real games and both of them were too close for comfort. We have seven more SEC games, coin flip odds for each of those would give us less than 1% chance of being undefeated. I think our chances are better than that, but I'd say giving us even a 10% chance of remaining undefeated would be optimistic at this point.

I didn't post this to pump sunshine, I just thought it was interesting that pre-season SEC expectations had already flipped so much.

I'm just repeating what they stated. Besides saying we had the best shot, they both said good chance it happens. Most likely knee jerk reaction to how bad the LSU offense is playing.

Could you go ahead and put a date on when "early" will be over for this season?

We're a 1/3 through the season, so most would assume that early setback loss prediction would be wrong at this point.

Hopefully, we will remain an undefeated 7-0 team by the time we play LSU. We are 14.5-point home favorites over Mississippi State and will likely be double digit favorites over Florida and Arkansas.

Hey, we survived the "early setback"! Any other year, that would have been Notre Dame (or another high-profile game) setting us back. Bodes well for October?

Using FPI (which admittedly is not the best data source, but is easily available), for the 4 remaining away games:

winning out: 3.9%
losing out: 6.8%

The SEC title game this year will have a team with 2 losses. Maybe both teams. The only truly "bad" team is UK.
