Now that we'll only have 3 non-conference games going forward, there's no reason to play Baylor, UH, SMU, TCU, tech, or Oklahoma State as our power conference opponent. We'd be better served expanding our footprint to other geographies.

A&M has never played these power conference opponents: Oregon, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Rutgers, Virginia, and Syracuse. I say we play each of them as quickly as we can.

After that, stick with Notre Dame, anyone in the Big 10, ACC teams not in the SEC footprint, and any Big 12 team not mentioned above.

We should play Baylor over Texas Tech. Baylor is the historical rival. People only dont care because Baylor spent almost 30 years in the wilderness in football.

We should Baylor every year in every sport with a large schedule. Football is probably too tight to do it.

Another game in Texas... I'm all for it.

I remember hating that series when we were in the Big 12. It's not a big win, but the loss can derail a season. They always had their best overall performance against us as well. They're a potential bowl opponent, while our OOC games can be reserved for matchups I haven't seen 20+ times already.

Would LOVE to play TT again. Lots of raiders I know at church and around DFW, would be a lot of fun. It was one of the best most intense games in my time in College Station. That was near the height of the Leach days. Fun times.

That said, absolutely NO upside for A&M. Tech actually has a big money donor that could get them into competitive position. If we played them again, everyone would expect us to win, so if we win, we get zero credit...but if we lose, we would never hear the end of it.

so Yes in spirit. NO in practice. At least until we get a couple of nattys. :-)

The SP+ rankings (which is supposed to be predictive) have them as #12 thus far, and the creator of SP+ has them as #1 based on only 2025 results. Obviously it has its flaws, but it is something to keep an eye on.

This system has A&M at #20 and Notre Dame at #22.

Not even remotely interested. Would rather play the entire ACC, B1G and others in the Big 12 before them.

This sounds so much like all those saying we "should never play Texas again" for the past decade plus. My opinion is we should be playing our natural rivals in the Big 12 every year - Texas Tech, Baylor, etc. I would sign a 25+ year, home and home contract tomorrow with Tech. It's good for both sides to play these games. Notwithstanding the fact that these games will easily sell out, it will increase our SOS and be able to remain in Texas for all fan bases.

I hope that our two athletic directors see this through to signing a long-term deal!

I'm sure you will be attacked by the ones on here saying we should be playing some team like Rutgers or Virginia instead of playing a team in our same state. I've seen our future schedules and would rather play Tech every year over some of the scrub teams coming in.

Probably true but I would hope that at least discussions were happening. I understand the need about being more national instead of regional but I would also hope that these games between teams like Tech or Baylor would be looked at as positive for the our program. Unless we are going to playing teams like Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, FSU, Clemson, etc., we should be considering our regional rivals instead of playing teams like Rutgers, Northwestern, Syracuse, etc. just to play a P4 team.

With a 9-game conference schedule, we will play just 3 nonconference games. There is no reason for a Power 4 nonconference opponent to be Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, SMU, or Houston because we have nothing to gain. We would be better off playing a Big 10 or ACC opponent we have never played.
