Every other D1 fanbase in this state basically treats us like ****. College football is bigger than the state of Texas (not by much) there are plenty of OTHER teams to play. Tceh, Bailure, purple bailure, coog high and pony can all go to ****.

I would play them, college football is supposed to be fun and playing teams you hate makes it more fun.

Playing Big 10 teams isn't going to make a difference in our national footprint, even if it did we will still not win anything important. So let's have some fun.

It's only beneficial for tt we win it won't mean anything they win even if we're having a **** season they beat an SEC team. Screw them.

I say have the AD do a poll with panhandle Ags to gauge interest. Might be nice for them to see a game locally and lots of good Ags up there but I suspect they'd rather go to Austin for T-Day or Jerry World for a bigger national matchup.

We're supposed to play better schools, not take a step backward.

Nope.... Already bad enough we have to play three old Big 12 schools, adding a 4th is regressing.

I would however love a home and home with Georgia Tech

the tceh fans spit on my niece when she attended with hs bf who was attending there. They would be no different if we played there again. Most folks on here prob forget when they shoved a goal post into our fans section

Again, no upside for A&M. We already have enough "rivalry" type games with Texas, Arkansas, and LSU. Besides, we should be looking at the bigger picture and working to establish a national presence. The key is getting eyes on your program with TV broadcasts that will gain interest in markets outside of our region. Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston, etc. cannot offer that.

Look at the non-conference games we've played since we joined the SEC. We're clearly trying to get national eyeballs on A&M, not just folks in the state who already know about us.

Heck, even several our 'cupcake' opponents have come from other parts of the country.

Our known future non-conference power opponents are Arizona State and Louisville. There's just no room (or benefit) to putting State of Texas power conference schools on our schedule. Nostalgia is great and all, but it's not how you build a national brand and a powerful football program.

The risk factor is high. Confirmed by the fact that Tech bested TAMU in overall head to head Big12 play. And it would have been even worse if not for the Leach debacle at the end. Very risky indeed.

The interesting thing, though VERY EARLY, is the slight possibility of a Tech/Aggie playoff game this season as molded by ESPN. That'd be fun. All that hate brought back to life in a playoff environment.

It's an interesting idea, assuming ttu is willing to accept the supplicant position & dispense concessions accordingly....but still a pipe dream.

IMO we'd want to use our non-buy OOC games to gain exposure either with the Polynesian pipelines (Utah, SoCal programs) or the Midwest. It's a clear waste to use them on in-state (or even neighbor-state) opponents outside of Houston or DFW.

Yes we have played some of the better ACC teams in recent years ( Clemson , The U, V tech ) but there are teams in the ACC that would be significantly less interesting than playing tceh for example Wake, Syracuse , NC State Duke etc
With regards to the B1G it's pretty obvious their elite programs have no interest in scheduling a H&H

We better move on this quick before ND locks them all into a 30 yr home and home agreement. I mean they'd play Coast Guard every year if they could.

While a game vs. tech might be more "interesting" than playing some of the other ACC schools, it would be much better for A&M's overall brand and national outreach to play Boston College or Virginia or Pitt instead of tech. Gotta look big picture here. Look past the regional, focus on the national. That's the whole reason we joined the SEC. The SWC and Big 12 were regional conferences, at best. When you stretch nationally and into different time zones, the money and exposure increase exponentially. Texas Tech cannot offer us that benefit.

And who says the Big 10 elite programs have no interest in scheduling a home and home with us? Texas has played both Michigan and Ohio State recently. OU and Michigan played this year and the Sooners did a H&H with Ohio State a few years back. Penn State recently did a home and home with Auburn. Wisconsin just finished a H&H with Alabama and did one with LSU a few years back. The opportunity is there to play the top tier Big 10 teams.

If the Ags are regularly going 10-2 our brand and national profile will be fine

Klein needs to prove he can run an offensive scheme that players want to be in
Defense needs to keep getting better

Who are non conference P4 game is against is less important by a wide margin than the other considerations

I visited Lubbock exactly one time for a game.

Having dozens of people yell f bombs at me and my wife succeeded in convincing me to never visit that place again. By far, the most offensive and vile fanbase I ever experienced.
