Huh?? Notre Dame played in the National Championship game last year.

Come on man, don't bring facts into this

I'm talking in a general sense. It doesnt matter what they look like on any given year, they're always a "contender." They finally got close last year but how many times have they been embarrassed in a bowl game?

If our defense doesn't look any better against Utah State, I think we'll really struggle at South Bend. I'm waiting for some optimism on both sides of the ball.

Not one but Two WRs having the best Aggies WE performances since some Christian Kirk performances didn't give you a little bit of optimism that we have some explosive playmaking capability in the passing game that wasn't on the team last season? You just shrugged off Concepcion and Craver's performances as 'meh'?

The rush defense getting gashed was a bit concerning and the biggest question mark coming out of that game IMO . The offense, there was a lot to like. We know A&M's running game will be probably be solid. The veteran OL and the RB's are vetted proven commodities. What we clearly lacked last season offensively was basically what we saw Concepcion and Craver do on Saturday.

Since you know we will go 8-4 no matter what, because that is always the A&M football final season record…just remember that if you use up one of your 'certain loss' predictions versus Notre Dame, then you only will have three of those predictions left for the remaining 9 games of the season.

The game will basically be over heading into Q4, and all we will be doing is trying not to make the final score look bad. We are not a good "away" team, hence the BAS post. It is a comfortable 3 TD cushion win for the irish. And.....and....we will see countless....endless camera shots of carr's mother.....like last night in miami.

I bet TA loves customers that waste $$$ on Premium benefits with such a dour BAS outlook.

It was great Conception and Craver had banner days. However, will they be able to repeat that against a better defense? Or any of our other receivers when there could very likely be more pressure on Reed on the road? As far as our run game being solid, the same thing applies as above against a better defense.

I'm glad to see you are a little concerned about our run defense. They looked pretty porous to me too. I wonder if the Irish offense might be a bit more of a task than a buncha speedy birds, and ****oos at that!

I'm trying not to be a Debbie Downer, but until we see the proof in the pudding on the field pardon my pessimism. I've spent too many decades battling starry eyed possibilities concerning the Aggies, many times at the beginning of the season, when there appears to be some fairly obvious problems from the get-go.

I'd really love to see this team congeal/consolidate into a cohesive bunch, but I'm not getting the warm fuzzies at this time. Maybe after a W or two more. . .

Like clockwork!

A top 10 team who played another Top 10 team at their place in their first game is now "overrated"'and easy pickings for the mighty Aggies who struggled at home for 3 of 4 quarters with a crappy G5 opponent until they just ran out of gas!

We continue to be the Wil E. Coyote of CFB thinking every time "it will be different this time!"

My brother in Maroon

You know how this works. If we pull off the impossible upset of ND then the pumpers will act like we just won the national title and have permanently turned the corner….only for us to drop games to MSst and Auburn and it completely not matter as we go 8-4 again

Let's get real.

Historically, Texas A&M is not the type of program that goes to South Bend and beats a program like Notre Dame.

Currently, given what we saw saturday, what gives us any indication that Texas A&M can go get a win there?

ESPN gives A&M a 30% chance and TeamRankings about a 27%

Either I will find a way or I will make one.

Exactly. We know A&M will somehow win 7 of the remaining 11 games because 8-4 will be the final record, so was just saying folks need to ration those 'certain losses' predictions.

I am saving mine for @LSU and @Texas and TBD one of the home games that we 'should' win (like an Auburn). @Arky or @Mizzou kind of scares me too. Not sure I'd use one on @ND yet. I could easily see us win @ND and then lose @Arky, cause that would be a typically Aggie season roller coaster.

I think Northern Illinois win probability in South Bend last season was 0.01%

I am not predicting a win @Notre Dame but to be fair, if you look at A&M's history….the Aggie team often wins an early 'Big' game like this one just to toy with the fan base and get their hopes up for a great season. Then the losses in October and November happen to pop the balloon. So it would not be shocking at all if A&M won.

We better see much better line play on both sides of the ball or once again we will be embarrassed with the whole country looking in.

Northern Illinois winning in South Bend last September was an 'Anomaly'? I now offer you Exhibit B from the prosecution of an example of Notre Dame laying a September home game egg during the Marcus Freeman era. Marshall beat them 26-21 on September 10th, 2022.

That is Notre Dame losing to both Marshall and Northern Illlinois in 'cupcake' games at home in 2 of the past 3 years. The prosecution rests.

I think Domers win 21-10 unless we see a lot more out of our team.

ND will grind the ball up the middle, and we won't be able to stop them until we load the box, and then they hit a big pass over the top.

Reed seems to be good at passing against the zone, so he might have a banner day, but I am willing to be that the athletic ND linebackers snag a pic or two.

I could be wrong, and we might find a run defense in a magic bottle over the next couple of weeks, but, if not, we will just get ground into pulp.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

IMO Notre Dame will get at least 27 on us. I just have no trust in our run defense at all. So now the question is, can we get more than 27 or 30 against their D?

I think we can, but I certainly wouldn't bet on it.

As of now, I'm thinking Notre Dame 30 Ags 24

ND's o-line is highly suspect. Their "best RB ever" was a non-factor yesterday. Why? Because they couldn't block.. at all. At the same time, their offensive success came from one single WR and some QB runs.

This year's ND offense is not last year's. And ours is the same with far better skill positions.

Now do I trust our Dline can get pressure? No. Do I trust they can eat up blocks and clog running lanes.. even from a problematic OL? Not based on Saturday. I do think our secondary is improved and their QB will have to throw A LOT better than he did against Miami to have success. But they should be able to scheme some easy plays around our edges where we still have no idea how to contain.

I think it's a close game. Probably a 28-24 type of affair one way or another. ND can't lose this game if they want playoff hopes. We need this game to energize the fanbase and prove we can compete at the highest level. Turnover battle could be the most important.

For some of us, long in tooth and having destroyed many brain cells, we remember. We remember teams of yore. Teams who destroyed Heisman winners, who stopped the mighty Bo Jackson from entering the gates of the end zone, aho stole the towel from little Timmy Brown and carried the golden fleece to the promised sidelines, teams who entered into the sulphuric doom of Bryant-Denny to take on the Saban and slew him, teams that stood on the goal line denied their fellow Texans admittance.

We would also like a QB who could through an accurate long ball and better linebacker play.

The one thing that jumped out to me in the ND/Miami game. They could not cover Miami's version of Craver. That's a big positive. ND secondary is not close to what it was last year.

If our run defense does not improve, we will lose BIG. I don't have enough confidence in our offense to match score for score, or for that matter, for our defense to make the stops necessary and get off the field.

Jeremiah Live will run for 250 yards against this D.
We have NO dominant defensive end. Linebackers are undersized and our secondary is So grossly reactionary that Carr will throw for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns

No way I'd send out our "traditional"4-2-5 defense. Need to stack 8 in the box and stop the run. If we get beat through the air so be it. Have to make stopping the run a priority. I'd have Brooks and Ratcliffe in the box, especially on first down and second/third and medium/short.

Meant to post this in here, not the other thread…

The good news is Notre Dame couldn't play vanilla on offense against Miami, so that tape will not lie. There is a lot our coaches and players will be able to learn from it.

I suspect Notre Dame, knowing that we are concerned about our run defense and that they ran well on us last year, will show a lot of run in the first half so that we put 7 in the box, and then they will have Carr test our secondary in 1 on 1 coverage. Being able to get to Carr with our edge rushers (and actually bring him down) will be absolutely huge in this game.
