What do y'all need to see in game 1 of the season to be sorta impressed by this team?

Me personally I'm only looking at how well we do in the trenches. Specifically our OL. I need to see them impose their will and get good push and wear them down. I need to see our DL able to get pressure a bit.

UTSA has a good set of WRs along with a solid TE and straight gamer in McCown at QB. They had a solid passing attack that I need to see us limit in order to feel "good" about the defense.

Scoreboard needs to at least show us winning with 40+ points and holding them to 10 or less. Either way I won't start to buy in until I see what we do against ND.

Agree with that. Would also like to see us be able to play action and hit mid to deep routes because our running game is on fire.

great teams play to a standard not to the level of the competition. i would like to see us come out and play to an elite standard mentally and be dominate physically.

• Offense - ability to move the ball at will
• Defense - 3 & outs throughout the game
• 2nd team getting plenty of reps in the 2nd half due to a blowout
• No injuries

Get a 1st down on 3rd and 3 running the ball. Score a TD running the ball when 1st and goal.

Ability to run the ball when tusa knows we are running the ball.

If you think UTSA is a cupcake you haven't been paying attention.

I can confidently say that we could beat UTSA 95-0 and I still wouldn't be counting any chickens

There have been a lot of people saying we won't learn anything after the UTSA game. Completely false. There will be tells and indicators in the UTSA game that will be predictors of how well we will play throughout the season. Things like missed tackles, blocks, etc. No question we will learn some things after 8/30/25. What we won't know is what our ceiling might be. We'll have a much better idea of that after the Notre Dame game.

If we win by more than 35, I'll be impressed.

40 is the cut off. If we don't win by 40, just cancel the season.

Score 49 or more. Allow 10 or less. QB1 doesn't play in the 4th. QB2 throws at least 1 TD in the 4th.

This is what teams ranked in the top 10 at end of season do to these type of teams

We need to score 45+ against UTSA and hold them to 10 or fewer, and we need to look clean and explosive doing it. If this is a 34-17 or so game, that's a very bad sign. UTSA is not on our level talent-wise, and they should not be within 4 touchdowns under any circumstances.

O'neill to look confident and have a leadership look to him on offense. Would want to see a couple of nice TD passes with no turnovers

It is UTSA. We need to not open the playbook, just run the same three plays over and over and over and win going away.

I want to have confidence that the offense executed the watered down first game offense without issue.
I want to see our defensive secondary win the matchup battles when they're called upon.
No injuries.
Minimal penalties and mental errors.

All normal game one asks that we should be able to deliver, and if not then the nay-sayers get the floor until we prove differently.

They are not even remotely in the same zip code talent wise as we are.

Games like this ought to be a glorified scrimmage for us. That's why we schedule them.

We have a way of making them seem otherwise, which is why people are exasperated with this program.

In a perfect world, 1: QB making correct reads and hitting receivers on mid-range passes on time. 2: d-line not allowing any push by their O-line. 3: good use of TE's and better blocking by TE's. Good o-line play helps #1.

Really doesn't matter. South Carolina had a pretty good year last year and flirted with the playoff after looking BAD against ODU to open the season. Just win the game and stay as healthy as possible.

Since we have 27 tight ends in the room., I would like them to all score. J/k . We will get the usual Aggie special for an opening game.....win 31-17, 6 injuries, 1 out for the season and lose a rank in the AP poll.

You guys are setting everything up for failure. It will be Ags 31-29 on a last second FG. And we should be happy.
