Will be in Medellin during the first part of the season and was wondering if any one had any success finding a great US sports-watching bar/restaurant (outside of Parque Lleras) in Medellin?

I've been married to a woman from Medellin for 13 years. She's a dual U.S. / Colombian citizen. We go down there quite a bit because we own some rental properties down there and I'm working on my Colombian "Green Card" so, I can't be out of the country for more than 180 days. We've been going for years. I have found it VERY difficult to find a place to watch games. In fact, I don't think I've ever found a place. We have one apartment that is the place where we stay when we go. We put it on Airbnb when we're not there. We have DirectTV there and here in Baton Rouge. My wife's cousin works for DirectTV in Medellin. I've never been able to get U.S. sports programing, like college football, in our apartment down there, even with my wife's cousin's help. Networks like ESPN offer totally different programing there than they do here. The only way I have ever found to watch games down there is on my computer. I have to set my VPN to USA and watch the games through a streaming service on line. I don't know if you're familiar with Medellin, but I would suggest you be extremely careful about connecting to any Wi-Fi networks there, without a VPN. Coincidentally, most Wi-Fi networks in hotels, apartments, restaurants, etc., will not let you connect to their WI-FI if you are using a VPN. I have AT&T cell service and the International Day Pass option on my plan. That gives me unlimited data, calls and texts when I'm out of north America for $10/day. So, I use my phone as a WI-FI hotspot and connect my computer to that. I'll be down there for the last two weeks in September, so if you're there hit me up and we can have our own game watching party(s). Gig'em.

I actually watched us play Rice in 2013 at the Medellin Hooters. Most places don't open til later and very little knowledge of American football. Things could certainly have changed though. Get a bandeja paisa and a Club Colombia for me!

Go with the Club Colombia Rojo. We had luck getting NFL games, but not college games.

I lived in Medellin for two years while studying for a masters in International Business. It's one of my favorite places in the world! I've got a good friend that's former Navy that lives there if you'd like me to introduce you? He's a University of Florida grad and will be coming with me to the A&M vs Florida game later this year. He's a great guy and will definitely show you a great time and can answer any questions you might have while down there. I've also got a good group of friends down there as well and can help answer any questions.

I hear ya......Medellin is awesome. Yep my old lady is from Medellin and I've been going down there off and on since 2011. Visited Cali, Barranquilla, Bogota and Cartagena, but Medellin blows them away IMO. I'm going to try Irish Kevins or Hooters (even though they are in Parque Lleras) as my Colombian wife is not fond of all of the Fufas there or other illicit activity after dark, I did find one other small Brewery in Poblado that had NFL games, but college football broadcasts are harder to find.

It is a shame that Petro (current President) is starting to really ruin Colombia, I hear the prices are going up for everything and he has got his hands on the medical industry's money and has raised the property tax like a true Socialist/Ex Guerilla (ELN) that he is.......sheesh, Colombia elected him even with the example of Venezula staring them in the face, unbelievable.
