Have all the shows on in the morning for nothing more than background noise, but good god, they literally talk about Arch/tu at least three times per 2 hour show. Can he start a freaking game?

And the idea that there should be some kind of balance between A&M and Texas nationally is silly, no matter how much of a homer you are. It's like Oklahoma State wondering why people talk about OU instead of them. I mean, Texas/Ohio State will be the 38th time Texas and their opponent have both been in the top 5. A&M has been in 4, ever. Texas this century has won a title, played for another, and been one game away from the championship game the last two years. A&M has exceeded 9 wins ONCE since 1998. What the heck do you expect?

This has more to do with his last name than anything.

I watched his interview session yesterday. Appeared to be a good kid, clearly nervous which is not that surprising. He will be good this year but he's going to make lots of mistakes.

At the end of the day if he was as great as sip fans envision him to be he would not have waited 3 years to start. I assume he will be back next year and that's probably when he plays his best after taking his lumps this year. But surely their schedule will not be as easy next season.

since next years schedule is wide open, I fully expect them to draw another tilted schedule - they should get OUs current schedule but I doubt that happens

This has more to do with buzz (which = $$$$$ for all including ESPN). Why would'nt media types have "darlings"? The folks who think this is personal are silly. tu makes everyone richer, period...

That said, you do not have to go back too many years to remember when JFF was on all the shows.

The Manning name just adds to the buzz. His uncles are retired yet you see them on the shows almost daily if you pay attention. And he is as good a bet to be a slam dunk than any prospect in some time.

As I already pointed out, Arch hype at this time is because of his last name. Maybe his play earns more hype in the future. TBD

I do not disagree. Manning on the back of the jersey might be the biggest foot in the door in football. The kid does have talent and I do think he will be special. I was not on the Eli train and he proved me wrong. Arch seems to have more tools. The fact he is still in Austin speaks to his mentality and maturity.

We shall see. Should be fun to watch.

I don't care . Manning is a good kid imo and maybe a top flight qb and clearly has the advantage of name recognition. Great. We just need to figure out how to beat tu.

They are just following the familiar model of build em up, tear em down and make money coming and going. When Arch underperforms and throws a couple of picks in their opening season loss to Ohio State, the media will get what they created. Again, Texas' offensive line is going to take a big step back and regardless of Arch's ability, can't make plays without time to do so.
