Many might want to stay in Chicago and ride the Game Day train to South Bend and back. That will be my choice. The train goes to the South Bend Airport and you get a bus transfer to the Stadium, then the last train leaves from the airport station 90 minutes after the game.
You can not buy tickets yet, but I wanted to put this out there.
Here is the link to the website: https://mysouthshoreline.com/

Here is the information for last year's game.

I've got a deposit on seats on the Irish Express, but I'm considering this as well. I'm not sure if I understand exactly how this is ticketed: Do you have a reserved seat? Is it just one train going and coming, or can you jump on any Eastbound train?

If you can jump on any earlier train, then for the folks that want to get there more than 3 hours early (which is what the bus shoots for), that might be attractive. But, I could also see the last train being packed if they are not selling reserved seats.

Since the shuttle back from the campus to the SB Airport (train terminus) leaves at the same time Irish Express leaves for Chicago, I'm guessing that the return time to Chicago will be very similar. The train station is closer to my hotel than the bus drop off, but not close enough to walk around midnight.

I suspect they ticket your preferred Eastbound train number and the Extra back. Don't know on assigned seats.

i just called them this morning. 2025 train schedules posted.
NO ASSIGNED SEATS, so 2 hour train ride back after the game - ole Ags that are men will probably be standing.

Amtrak also has a few trains from downtown Chicago to South Bend and back every weekend. It's a little more pricey than South Shore, but I believe you can buy reserved seats.

Quick question, when adding to cart on their app, it doesn't give option for times/dates/train #, assume if you pre-purchase it is good for any date/times/train#?

After a quick search on their website found the answer:

"Tickets may be purchased at any time. One-way tickets are valid for 90 days, and multi-ride tickets (10-ride, 25-ride) are valid for 1 year. Tickets are not specific to any date or train, and may be used at any time prior to expiration."

I'm only willing to go to SB via a tv camera from my couch. I had a half dozen trips over a year and a half..,

Looks like trains from Chi to SB are booked. Anyone know of other options to get to the game form Chi? Need 2 spots. Thanks!

Are you willing to sell 1 on the bus? Is it the plus package or just the bus ticket?

Amtrak or South Shore? If talking about South Shore, how can they be sold out if you don't buy for a specific date? Looking to take #503 morning train from Millennium to SB Airport and return on the "extra" game day train. Is this doable? Any other options for a group of 8 or 10?

I asked earlier same question.l never got a reply...has to be Amtrak that is sold out.
Planning to to do Southshore AM train #503 and come back same way with wife. Just a little concerned what happens if the return train is completely oversold with returning fans or do they just stuff them in like sardines Tokyo style?
