You can't come back to the ball if you're jumping in the air, which is what he did. He didn't try to make a defensive play, just tried to draw the PI.

It was a terrible throw that was way under thrown. QB shouldn't get bailed out just cause a guy doesn't turn his head around especially when his receiver had no chance to make that catch.

That ball definitely wasn't uncatchable if he didn't have a defender pushing him out of the way.

Happens all the time. As a DB you gotta track the ball. If you don't all the receiver has to do is slow down and you're going to run into him and get PI. Ewers gets it all the time because he under throws so bad. Just because you don't like the rule doesn't negate it.

The receiver literally stuck his arm out and wrapped it around the DB to draw the interference call. The receiver wasn't even making a play on the ball.

Go rewatch the play. He appears to even make contact with the defender after he caught the ball despite being pushed away. Even if he doesn't make contact, it was awful close. In either case, he could have had a chance to strip the ball.
