You have to love Texags sometimes.

Texags- He's not good enough to be our #1 receiver.

Checks notes. Thomas led our team in:
Receiving yards
Receptions
Average reception yards
Longest reception
And TD's

Basically every single receiving statistic. I guess we get to find out if he is good enough for Georgia. Spoiler alert, he is good.

That made him OUR #1, not A #1…big difference

I get it. It's clear that many vocal people here think he isn't any good. Now we get to find out. Our best and most productive WR is gone that's not debatable. What's your confidence it was him and not the system? Or that whoever we bring in will be an improvement?

If he were transferring from Georgia to A&M we would be singing his praises on this board. I think that says enough that he is a big enough loss but not the end of the world
Honestly, given the performance of the UGA WRs this past year, I would not be that excited.

Wrong

But it's not devastating

Hummmm. I agree, not a huge loss but be better if we had him for sure as a big bodied WR, especially for Red Zone scoring. Overall our WR room is much improved so not so worried.

I am assuming A&M NIL didnt think he was worth what he is asking. Gotta make smart financial decisions. He certainly isnt a $1M WR but maybe others want to pay it.

Good for him. Our program is a sheit show.

Definitely in the boat that I would have loved to see him as the WR3 in a really good WR room like I'm hoping ours will be with the additions we've made, but he is not a Day 1/2 caliber pick in the draft. Probably could have put up 800 yards and double digit TDs with more weapons around him, but limited by lack of short area quickness and frankly, he doesn't play up to his listed speed.

Situation reminds me of Dominic Lovett, who put up good numbers for Mizzou in his sophomore year and left for Georgia expecting to build upon those with a national championship team. Instead, found himself in a WR room where he didn't stand out and they didn't gameplan him for as much creative usage as Mizzou did. Numbers are down, especially YPC, and he likely is going to be drafted in the later rounds if at all.

Kids transfer out, it's clearly apart of the game, as we are bringing in a whole set of them in this portal class. But players that transfer from A&M after putting their best season together and opt for greener pastures will get no well wishes from me. Don't treat my university as a stepping stone.

Based on how his career has gone, I would probably choose Georgia over A&M too if I'm being honest with myself.

This is proof of the continued decline of Georgia. Addition by subtraction for us.

I'm not wrong. He isn't that good.
Define "that".

He's average

Well he was going to be a starter next year for us. So...

Says more about the lack of WR talent on our roster than anything. Definitely not a go to receiver, he gets locked down easily by good DB's.

Hes definitely not a go to receiver he's more suited to be a WR3. Someone that is good but need some of the attention taken off him. Pair him with a true threat and I bet he does well.

You're spot on. He looked way better his freshman season because Anais took the attention away. In the bowl game we through him a short route like he has the wheels to stop and go like one of our slot receivers. Horrible play to run to him.

He didn't do too badly. Tied for 2nd in the league (1 TD from the top) in TD receptions for the season. Same number as Ryan Williams.

He had more TD receptions than any player on Georgia's team this year despite Georgia playing an extra game (CCG and the playoffs vs one bowl game). Golden had two extra games.

He was productive and had more total TDs for A&M than I thought.

But to be fair, 2 TDs came against USC who was playing back-ups. And 2 total TDs came against McNeese and New Mexico State.

So really 50% of his TDs came against lower competition, IMO.

That's fair, although all of those players in the link were able to pad stats against OOC cupcakes too.

My comment had nothing to do with how good he was or wasn't here, but rather the offenses he was in. He has one more year to put good tape on film. I think he's a talented guy. From his POV, he saw the Klein offense and just decided he'd rather take his chances elsewhere. Won't fault him for that.

For the record, I'm more pro-Klein than most. A&M just hasn't historically developed receivers, and he gave Klein's system a year and apparently didn't love it. Oh well.

Decline?

Interesting

Georgia wins it all last year if they are in the playoff.

Loses QB in SEC champ game or they would probably still be playing.

So to revisit

2021 National Champ
2022 National Champ
2023 Lose one game, SEC champ by very slim margin. Get left out of 4 team playoff but easily best team.
2024 Lose QB in SEC champ game. Still win SEC. Lose very close game against Irish where all breaks went Irish's way. Best part, team they beat twice is still playing bc they get golden ticket schedule.

Yep

Total decline right there.
