Does that mean Sumlin is a cyborg then since he had an 11-2 season here?
I have always heard the argument that we have everything in place to be a national contender, but unfortunately we aren't. Is it just the coaching staff that is the issue or is there other problems that are not talked about. It seems we have some of the best facilities, fans, atmosphere, recruiting base, money, etc. However, we can't seem to put together any consistency or contend for a championship. Are there truly that few number of coaches that can truly unlock all the potential at a school?Ginormus Ag said:

Sounds like he'd fit in great here.Logos Stick said:
He lost to Kentucky at home. Also lost to Florida.
He loses games he shouldn't lose. That's why he's not in the playoffs.
He's been to greener pastures twice before. Yet he's at Ole Miss. Probably indefinitely.concac said:
There's a reason he still is at Ole Miss. If he as good as he thinks he is, he would've bailed to greener pastures a long time ago.
Come on man, With our resources God would be 9-3 maybe 10-2.Ginormus Ag said:

I don't think so either. There is upside his style, but the downside is significant. It comes with instability and too many opportunities to self destruct. Give me Marcus Freeman. A serious, focused, ex-player that knows the game. His players are playing for him, and he conducts himself with integrity. He will be the next Saban.vander54 said:

I didn't say he was coming here. I said that is the preferred coaching model over a schmuck like Kiffin.the most cool guy said:StinkyPinky said:I don't think so either. There is no universe in which Marcus Freeman ever comes here. I don't know why people keep saying this. You might as well say "give me Nick Saban from 10 years ago."
I am glad that I went to school during a time when we had a coach who was better than all of these.Ginormus Ag said:

I posted last year when we were looking for a coach we should hire kiffin. Most of y'all shot down the idea.
I feel vindicated

Lane Kiffin not having resources is such a weird narrative. Other then Ohio State and Oregon who benefitted more from the transfer portal than Ole Miss? They had a top 5 roster and lost at home to Kentucky. Kentucky's only SEC win! He's always had resources and never won anything other than C-USA but since he complains the most everybody believes that he's the victim. He had elite resources and the big reward was a bowl win over a Duke team with no quarterback

Why exactly do you feel vindicated?
Kiffin had the #1 Transfer Portal Class in 2024 and Ole Miss still went 5-3 in the SEC (same as us) and didn't make the CFP. You still have to deal with Kiffin being a dewshbag for $9M+ per year. The guy has never done anything of significance as a HC. Yea, besides being a bad culture fit I just don't see the upside here.
