NEW ORLEANS Officials have postponed the 2025 Sugar Bowl between Georgia and Notre Dame in wake of the deadly attack on Bourbon Street.

District Attorney of Orleans Parish Jason Williams told ABC News that the game will be played on Thursday instead of Wednesday night.

"As of right now, it's only being postponed one day," Williams said.

Not that simple. Need to do a full security sweep of the stadium and they cannot get that done before teams and fans start arriving.

I get being safe, but I think two attacks back-to-back at two different places and two different days in the same town seems very unlikely.

Actually it would be smart. Law enforcement is busy at the crime scene so another large gathering will not have the normal security. Perfect time for something else.

The security that would have been at the super dome is busy cleaning up the mess that this jack*** did now. I don't think they are worried about an attack on the game.

They are finding other explosives. They just said at the press conference that they are doing massive sweeps of the area and the super dome. Using bomb dogs etc.

The NFL games this weekend when most don't matter will have higher viewership. Outside the US, this delay won't even be noticed vs if it was an NFL game it would be especially in places like London.

Yes it matters to the networks but it isn't a major statement like postponing other sporting events.

Americans will be able to watch tomorrow night just like they would have watched tonight.

The only people seriously disrupted by this are those that were in town just for the game. That's a pretty big deal to a lot of them I bet.

They had closed the stadium completely but now they opened it at least partially as media was broadcasting from in there. I'm wondering if they made the decision with the anticipation of a sweep taking longer than it actually did.

Nah dude. Many many people starting their work back up tomorrow. As someone with experience in tv advertising, much more value in New Year's Day media than the day agger.
