A close buddy texted me a little while ago reminding me that in recent history it's smarter to bet against the favorite in bowl games as the favorite has already played their most important game(s) of the season (Circa Bama loss to Utah 2009 Sugar Bowl to present day). Adding that unless you're in the playoff these bowl games are a notch above a scrimmage, put bluntly.

No excuse for Ags blowing a lead - that was atrocious. His point was more about how bowl games are almost meaningless for some teams, especially if the team just missed making the conf. playoffs or NC playoffs. However, military academy teams always show up regardless. I miss the old days....

Does your buddy give you any other insightful tidbits, like water is wet, or grass is green?

Tell me your bowl bets and I'll help you with that son...there's always a wise ass in the group.

Every other college sport at every level conducts a playoff system to determine its national champion. It's way past time for D1 football to do the same. Screw the bowls.

Agree: bowl games are meaningless.

Also agree with your throwaway that blowing a massive lead in the last quarter and a half is a sever issue that needs to be reviewed.

Dude, keep telling yourself that. So many posters on here are trying to make themselves feel better about that embarrassing loss by claiming that "bowl games don't matter".

Bowl games don't matter. We also shouldn't have lost the one we did. And in the way we did. That happened because we suck, not because the bowl game doesn't matter. Our coaching carousel just continues the suckage
