I think we will have a floor of 7-5 and a ceiling of 9-3 with likely road losses at Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas. The 5 road games at Notre Dame, Arkansas, Missouri, LSU, and Texas will make or break our season.

Even if we beat Arkansas, we are almost guaranteed to lose to LSU because winning SEC road games in back-to-back weeks is the rarest of the birds. Before this season, it had only been done 8 times in 78 such occurrences over the last decade, and 3 times in 38 occurrences over the last five years (the same disclaimer applies here as in the linked article: this tally does not include trips to Nashville or games separated by a bye week). Those three teams were 2019 LSU, 2022 Georgia, and 2023 Alabama; in other words, two national champions and a top 4 team. Each of these teams had a "down" performance in one half of said back-to-back but were able to overcome it when all was said and done.

Zero reason to put any kind of "ceiling" or "floor" on next year. People did the same thing in 2012, 2020, and 2022 and all ended up WAY off. Really every year, but those 3 on the extreme ends. I remember a floor of 8-4 in 2022 posted by many, and a ceiling of 8-4 / 6-3 about 2012/2020.

There are so many variables, both good and bad, that could swing this season a ton. Between being in year 2, not knowing how we finish the portal, our defensive staff, what adjustments our HC makes, do we stay healthy and see a team closer to the first 8 games or last 5, etc.

There's an argument for both the positive and negative here. To split the difference, I'll predict 8-4, but really wouldn't be surprised with much of anything outside of 12-0 or 4-8.

safe bet is 8-4 cause we are texas 8-4. i think the floor is 6-6 and the ceiling would be 10-2. lots of variables not just with our team but with the teams we play. especially in the portal era.

We're not losing to Arkansas. They suck and their QB is a turnover machine with a swiss cheese OL. Mizzou's losing WAY too much and will lose a ton of pop with Cook and Burden gone (we beat their asses with them).
The home team always wins the LSU game. Not sure about ND but we could make noise up there. tu will be a wildcard considering it's a rivalry game. I've seen us beat tu teams that were noticeably better than us in all facets except for heart and guts.
