My memory of the Lions only goes back so far. But they're pretty good.

After Dan Campbell started his tenure 4-19-1 through his first 19 games (3-13-1 in 2021 and 1-6 in his first 7 games in 2022), he has gone 34-9 in his last 43 regular season games (8-2 in his last 10 games of 2022, 12-5 in 2023, and 14-2 in 2024).

It's crazy how the NFC North became the first division in NFL History to have two teams with 14+ wins. As a result, the Vikings vs Lions game on Sunday Night Football will be the first ever NFL regular season game between two 14-2 teams to determine both the NFC North and No. 1 seed. Also, this will be the first time a regular season finale determines a No. 1 seed since the 1993 season finale between the 11-4 Cowboys and 11-4 Giants determined the NFC's No. 1 seed. Because of the NFL playoff format that gives automatic home field advantage to the 4 division winers in each conference, the loser of that game will be the first 13+ win NFL team to get a No. 5 seed and play a wild card game on the road. I think the Vikings or Lions will beat the Rams or Buccaneers on the road.

The last time a division had two teams with 13+ wins in the same year was 1999: 14-2 Jaguars and 13-3 Titans. Because there were 3 divisions in each conference, that Titans team got the No. 4 seed and had a home playoff game against the Bills in the Wildcard round. It's funny how that Titans team was the only team to beat that Jaguars team: twice in the regular season and again in the AFC Championship Game.

After the Lions allowed just 203 points in their first 12 games (16.92 points allowed per game), they have allowed 130 points in their last 4 games (32.5 points allowed per game) because of numerous injuries. After the Lions had 14 interceptions in their first 10 games with at least one interception in each of those games, they went for 5 straight games without an interception until safety Kerby Joseph came up with 2 interceptions in the second half against the 49ers.

1) Hire DC (and bring AG)
2) Give him the keys
3) build him a statue

For an nfl head coach to leave their current job where there's probably a gm and structures in place to deal with negotiations for salary and go to college where you're negotiating with a high school kid, yeah I don't see that happening.

If the Lions beat the Vikings on Sunday, they will get the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye. If the Lions lose to the Vikings, they will get the No. 5 seed and play a road playoff game against either the Rams or Buccaneers in the first round.

If Detroit doesn't make the Super Bowl the season is a fail. I hope to see them play the Eagles in the post-season. With a healthy Hurts + Saquon, the Eagles can drain the clock like none other and reduce that high-powered Detroit offense to a lot fewer possessions.

Should be a really entertaining playoffs with multiple contenders.

Has OP watched the Lions' defense at all? It'll be the reason why they don't go very far in the playoffs.

Dan is 10000% an NFL guy and has already said he will do anything to help and support A&M football but coach the team (or any college FB team).

So happy for Dan Campbell, he should have been given the Miam job after he was interim, after a long spell as AHC in NO he finally got his shot and it is right place, right time, right team.

I advocated talking to him prior to hiring Jimbo when he was still on NO staff, and maybe at that time he would have listened, but not now.

He would be great at HS recruiting, but would despise the rest of it at a nuclear level. Dan would NOT tolerate CFB world today of NIL and transfers. He would not deal well with entitled 17/18 year old kids or backups being developed that come and ask for more NIL $$ or they will transfer, etc.

It's too bad the Lions have so many injuries on defense. That is going to cost them a shot to win the SB, NFL conf. champ games and the SB are rarely won 42-37, more like 23-17, so the losses on defense really hurt the Lions. Would like to see the NFL expand to a 60 man roster so they can have more depth due to this issue. Losing just one or two great players (non QB) should not hamstring a D unit like that.

Still, the Fighting Dan Campbells are the best and most fun NFL teams to watch and support, better than the S show in Dallas/Arlington.

There has been a steady upward trajectory last three years that culminated in a top 5 D first half of the season this year. Then the entire defense died and are now playing scrubs off the street.

They showed up surprisingly well tonight. With Anzalone back and some voodoo magic or something they stonewalled the Vikes pretty much all night. Darnold playing like ass helped of course but I was shocked to see the D swarming like they did. Just hoping the injury to Arnold was a stinger of some sort tonight.

They haven't won anything this year and they won three NFL Championships in the 50s.

My family is from Detroit. I hope they win the Super Bowl for many reasons. However, they haven't won anything. Let's wait until they win a Super Bowl, first.

That was a nuts game. #24 for the Vikings is having a rough film day today.
