Are there any other schools with our level of resources, alumni money, facilities, number of former students, fan support, etc. that also struggle with winning as much as we do?

Over the past ten years. Probably Auburn and Florida.

Michigan State consistently underperforms and had their own Jimbo recently.

I can see analogies to Purdue and Ga Tech as great engineering schools with average football results.

I can see analogies to UFL and Auburn as SEC schools with average results on the gridiron.

I see an analogy to UCLA even Arizona as similar fanbases who support their team.

But I can find no analogy to any school with the recruiting and financial resources we have with mediocre results.

No...we most certainly do not have a more winning tradition than the schools on this thread. And no, at least UCLA...if not others...have better academics than we do.

I would say UCLA.
UCLA had a fantastic football program in the 70's and 80's, and they dominated USC in the 1990's.
The Bruins have only been pretty good the past 25 years.

Auburn won a title in 2013, Michigan State has at least made the football playoff, we would give anything to have a run like
Florida did with Spurrier and Meyer regardless of their recent woes. UCLA has the conference and recruiting base but they did not have anywhere the financial support we do. Unfortunately I can't think of anyone anywhere close to us having all the money and resources with less results

…and… OU does not have A&M resources. They've done more with less. That said, we'll see how that holds up in the NIL era.

Michigan St has 7 seasons of 10 or more wins since 2000.
6 seasons of 11 or more wins since 2010.

Per the recent CNBC financial valuation of athletic programs, Texas A&M is SECOND in revenue behind only Ohio State. In looking at the top 10 richest programs 5 are in the playoff this year(Ohio St, Tennessee, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Texas). Four programs have had significant national championship winning success(Nebraska, Michigan, Alabama, OU). There is only one outlier-Texas A&M. In fact, EVEN expanding to the top 20 in valuation, A&M is STILL the outlier.

2nd largest school in the US

In the greatest conference in the US.

By location there is no comparison.

The size of Houston and Dallas area and the enthusiasm for fottball is unmatched. BCS is 50 miles from an $80-million high school stadium. Should be able to win a championship with players from Houston alone.

Have $1 Billion dollars worth of facilities that would impress an Emirati prince (this was always RC's excuse; lack of facilities).

An unbelievable scenario for failure.

There simply is no comparison to any school in the US.

WTF are you blabbering on about?

UCLA and MSU may not have won it all in decades but both schools have been in the discussion much more than we have in the past 50 years. Which I suppose isn't saying much because we've never been in the discussion at all.

As for Purdue and Georgia Tech... you actually believe our academics are so impressive we can call these schools "jokes"? That's cute. Thanks for letting us know you're as clueless about academics as you are football.

In all honestly there is not another school with the resources of Texas A&M that has underachieved as much

UCLA is a basketball blue blood. There was a time when they might've been good at both, like UNC, but they're basketball focused. I don't think they care as much as we do about being in football purgatory.

I was listening to the radio and someone asked if there was any difference between Texas Tech and Texas A&M when it came to sports?

Some people have silently said the only difference is that A&M plays in a huge stadium.

Texas Tech has the #1 transfer portal class in the nation for 2025. Their lax academic standards make it a magnet for football players looking to transfer, and athletes looking for easy academic credits.
The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce is also looking to fund a portion of the Tech NIL.
Texas Tech might be a sleeping giant in the NIL era.

Are you aware of your attitude? It's unnecessary.

I was simply trying to say that OU might have recent struggles, but nothing like what we've had for 85 years.

No one has the resources we have with nothing to show for it. With all we have, we should have at least stumbled into the title game if not won it over the last 20-30 years. We wasted our best shot in 2012 and got cheated out of a playoff spot in 2020.

Which schools are you referring to? Because I have seen OU, Tennessee and Florida mentioned and you are beyond delusional if you think we can be mentioned in the same category as those three programs. Each one of them has at least 1national title since 1990 and certainly more conference championships than we have even smelled.

Stop drinking the kool aid.

First thing you should do is size up the NFL Draft pick quantities (we only put in about 3 per year)

Find a handful of teams that also put in similar quantities as we do. Our peers (in this regard) are likely not what you think.

Now compare their W-L records. This is where you may find yourselves giving the coaches a little credit, given how few draft picks we actually produce.

And THEN compare the budgets.
