Late in the game USC literally just threw to whoever Ricks was covering. No matter where we tried to hide him.
He struggled big time. I'm he needs to either get much better or see less time next year

According to the defensive secondary savant HC last night, it's 13 games into the season and we can't play zone defense.
And our team leader safety somehow has regressed into one of the worst defensive players that gets major minutes that I've ever seen.

As a highly paid defensive coordinator, I would probably try to do something to mitigate that issue. I don't know, maybe run a blitz to speed up the clock? But no…

Hopefully Chappell and Humphrey will improve the CB/NB play but we still need to step up our safety play. Maybe some of the younger guys will push for starting jobs next year.

Correct. We kept trying to defend 8 with one guy no matter that it never worked.

Also our coverage became softer after the drive where they called the three penalties. It seems we changed things for the worse.

Hard to believe we don't have anyone to replace Ricks. He is absolutely terrible. And for that matter so is Bateman. Both should not be here next year.
Ricks played against USC 3rd stringers and still got totally abused.

Haven't reviewed Elko's contract but it sure as hell better not be guaranteed in full. He gets another year and the noose is very tight if he comes out 8-5 again. 7-6 is choking for air. Losing record I don't even want to consider
