The one thing i did notice tonite versus the last 6 games is that Elko wasn't carrying a playcall sheet. This leads me to believe that he was infact carrying Bateman and tonite was an interview of sorts for keeping ones job.

Bateman does not have a strong track record, Elko said he liked him since they had history but it looks like that was a bad call. Probably would have been better off if Elko called the defense and had an up and comer handle learning.

A lot of people were high on Klein but he showed to have no creativity. Now we have O'Neill and Hart who are not dual threats that are supposed to throw to Wars that can't get open. There were several times last night that our WRs were so close one DB could have covered them both.

After this sorry excuse for a season at least Klein or Bateman has to go

I noticed the same thing. I also heard fans say "I never even heard Elko coaching, it was like he was just watching." I agree that he was watching. He was watching to see how this game would pan out by letting his coordinators coach. Offensively, we didn't look HORRIBLE, but we still could vastly improve. Defensively, we were just a waste. We have been getting roasted all year long in coverage, especially Dezz Ricks. Idc if he was a 5 from Alabama, he isn't good enough to see the field for us. Surely our transfer players will take over in the secondary and we will fire Bateman. Someone has to go.

He pointed out specifics, like DB's not having a basic understanding of what's actually happening, what the offense is trying to do, why we're in man or zone. He told you "we've been lucky all year long", the problems have been there the whole time.

Which was evident against Mizzou. They barely missed a couple of game breaking throws, and we got lucky.

The problem I have is: then do it. Cut everyone that you don't think is taking it seriously. Deion did it. With the portal you can actually create you culture. You won't win it all that way to start but at least you get rid of whatever rot is left over. Because now you have a talented freshman class coming in, and who do the practice with? The same guys who coach is complaining don't know a damn thing. That's how the sucking gets passed down from coach to coach

No matter, we'll suffer through another three years the he'll be gone!! I wonder what bumfuzzle the powers that be will bring in then. And so, the never ending coaching carousel will keep rotating!!!

It's not just the coaching, it takes experience to be where you people think we should be.
A lot of coaching, game time, and film study, over, and over, and over. Elko left a Lockdown Defense behind, when he went to Duke, he'll rebuild it again.. But it won't be complete by 2025 neither. LOL

We'll see, but just don't think elko will get rid of Coach Ish or J. Peterson...esp 2 of his top recruiters so a bit of a catch 22 and took a lot to get J Peterson to come home (and gave him a Co DC title).

Maybe he resigns and therefore doesn't have to watch this anymore. ...j/k

I agree with this. At the same time, it's disappointing that he whiffed so quickly on some of his hires. WTF man. Part of being the leader is ability to assemble a great staff.

That may be but, I have hope that Alberts will be significantly more capable than Bjork. The search that ended in the hiring of Elko was so bad it made our usual big cigar, slipshod hiring processes look decent. We had a guy that screwed up Fisher's deals beyond repair fumble through the hiring just before he packed his bags and left town. When we search for reasons we don't succeed, you need to look no further than that fiasco.
