I agree that is refreshing. But the quote about the defense comes from the guy who hired the DC that put the product on the field that he watched.

For the entire month of November he took the high road saying "it starts with me I have do better"

And then he lost every meaningful game for the next two months and we scored 0 points against our rivals so yah. I agree it is his responsibility and the results are the same gigantic failure

I like how Elko acts offended by what he just watched. YOU ARE THE HEAD COACH WITH A DC BACKGROUND. Take over the play calling during the game if ur gonna throw a tantrum after the game

He said they have no concept of zone defense. Whose fault is that? Stupid players or bad coaches or both? Fire the DC and secondary coach?

It's refreshing to see a defensive minded head coach throw a tantrum about how his own defensive coordinator put forth an embarrassing product?


Sounds like someone who is just throwing a tantrum. Similar type of immature talk we saw after the lsu game "we are a real program….no fast talking politicians…."

It's all hot air with him literally. Thank hid I went to bed b/c I knew Mike "Sherman" Elko would bring usc back. Very confusing offense they ran.
USC qb in huddle "hey where is 10 at ok im throwing it there". Absolute fitting ending for **** season.

That said, he gets a pass for Y1…put in Y2, words will mean nothing if we are still Texas 8&4 or worse. Ring hallow when you keep saying them but are in the position of power to change, yet dont.

I couldn't believe this admission. Through spring and fall and throughout the season you can't install zone coverages and execute with a semblance of competence? That's what a guy making millions just said! Terrible!

The thing I cannot get past is the end of the 2021 LSU game, when he was DC. Last night was essentially that all over again. Bateman may very well be the turd he appears to be, but this is Elko's defense. Nothing has changed in the way he calls defensive plays in game winning scenarios.

Let's see what Elko does to the coaching staff in January.

If he makes changes, you'll know he's not all talk.

If he rides with the same crew, you know he's just another average coach satisfied with being average.

I like a good fiery speech but I need actions and plans in action or it's the exact same as just saying things aren't going to be like they used to be
