Granted, First time I have watched an SMU game this season…but damn…that SMU QB is single handily giving the game to Penn State. Bad decision on first drive cost them points then three INTs including a Pick Six. And still 7 minutes to go in the first half! Body language now looking bad. SMU defense actually playing okay but their QB is killing them!

He has been pretty good this year for the most part. He is rattled here for sure. Trying too hard to make things happen. Making poor decisions.
No way his better than Reed imho.

He's a good QB against lesser teams. Not that great against a legit team.

SMU made an impressive comeback against Clemson in the ACC championship game, only to lose on a last second field goad. Why don't we let the kid play the full game before completely trashing him, eh?

28-0 at the half…can they do a mercy rule and just end this now, then move up the start time of the next games so we can all go to bed tonight a little earlier?

If it sincerely looked like we were notably outclassed and overwhelmed and ending the game short would be an act of mercy…then sure!

From quick googling, a 28 point comeback by SMU would be Top-15 comeback in college football history (regular or post-season) and largest comeback ever vs Penn State at Beaver Stadium. So…this game is effectively over and only question in second half is how much 'morale' victory does SMU (and their QB) salvage…or not.

Seeing if SMU can manage to lose by only 20 instead of 50 isn't really that entertaining of a watch.

Pretty much left premium bc to many posters on there were propping Weigman up and trying to force him into the starting spot he already lost once. It was crazy how hard they wanted him to be the QB.

And of course everyone saw how things ended up for him.

Not in denial. Two totally different style quarterbacks with an OC that doesn't know how to use either one. One is a much better passer and one is a much better runner. Too bad we don't have an OC capable of building an offense around either one.

Once Penn State got up by a couple of scores, thanks to him, they mixed up their coverages and started coming after him en masse. They weren't worried about immediate scores as they'd have time to adjust if SMU did score. But the SMU QB can't read the new coverages very fast and looks completely lost. They need to send Stone in there SOLELY to throw a wrinkle into what PSU is doing.

I'm good with Reed. He was basically the starter for most of the year. If I were a backup QB guy, I would be wanting another.

There should be a rule in college football. Two pick sixes in a game and you're replaced. Every coach should have that rule.

Nowadays it's hard to know who the hell is on our roster.

How is this argument tactic offering compelling evidence that the SMU QB would be a better option for A&M as an SEC QB than Marcel Reed? The Ole Miss & Bama QBs are also not playing in the CFP today. Is the SMU QB also better than their QBs? Better than the QB of any team not playing in the CFP today?

Reeds accuracy improved as the year went on, despite never practicing with the 1's until Game 3, having to sit the bench in the middle of a winning streak, and having Colin Klein call an offense that was easily predictable. He finished the year 60% in the SEC as a RS fish.

The SMU QB just got absolutely annihilated against only the 2nd team he played all season with high caliber talent.

I'll take Reed all day and it's not close. But I'd love Lashlee as OC. That would be a great combo.

So you are saying if our freshman QB doesn't get stronger and improve, we're in trouble? That's some insightful analysis. How many freshmen build muscle and improve later in their careers? What do you think our chances are?

Who cares? Jennings and SMU won 11 games and did what they had to do to make the playoffs.

Reed and Texas A&M did not.

SMU had the better season.
