The last 60 years would suggest that Texas, Ohio State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Clemson are the choices from which to pick a titleist. They are the 6 teams that have won multiple titles over that timeframe. SMU, Arizona State, Boise State, Indiana, Tennessee, and Oregon have combined for 1 title in the same timeframe.

I put $100 on ND at +800 on Bovada last week.

I'm more interested in seeing if there are any upsets

can SMU or Boise or ASU or Indiana win a game

I'll pick a longshot in ASU. They are playing really good ball and I don't think there are any dominant teams in the playoffs. BS almost beat Oregon early in the year.

I'll narrow it down for you, it will either be a Big 10 or SEC team. The best of the rest, Notre Dame may make some noise but won't get it done.
SMU, Boise St, ASU, Clemson and IU may win 1 game if they are very lucky but no way can they do more than that.

PSU & Tenn are solid but don't have what it takes.

Well the conference that was so bad it had to collapse won the B12 and B10. And a team so bad they had to pay to join a conference played in the ACC champ game. The team that could almost never win the B12 played in the SEC champ game. So I'm thinking nobody knows.
