Saw this on X:

Collective funding per NCAA estimates

Texas $22.2M
Ohio State $20.2M
LSU $20.1M
Georgia $18.3M
Texas A&M $17.2M
Michigan $16.3M
Alabama $15.9
Florida $15.9M
Clemson $15.2M

We're not the only ones who do less with more.

Well….for example….NIL started in 2021 and LSU's title was in 2019. Clemson's titles were in 2016 and 2018. As another example….LSU spent more than us for worse results, so we're not the only ones not doing well with our NIL expenditures.

HUh? Guess which of these program's only claim to fame is a conference championship 26 years ago?

This appears to be the source nil-ncaa.com/power5

And here is their methodology

It appears to be the work of a Washington State alum

As mentioned above Oregon is absent while Phil Knight is providing unlimited NIL and other incentives which cannot exactly be accounted for:

Oregon flipped the #2 cornerback in the nation and #12 overall player from Ohio State to their 2025 class. And how'd they do that? The Alabama native (so long Crimson Tide) said "[Knight] played a big role, like a huge, big role. He's actually waiting on me to get up there, he's got a lot of stuff planned for me. He's gonna help me make my shoe."

Having thought about this while responding I have to be honest, after defending the Yell Leaders as college kids doing harmless college things, the way NIL is going football related traditions seem farcical as we buy our players every year.

The certificate doesn't show an actual organization so it IS NOT THE NCAA.

In addition:

"Accordingly, our estimates are not what specific collectives receive in contributions. Instead, we are providing what we believe to be a reasonable estimate of funding a collective(s) supporting the school might be expected to generate in funding, given the school's historic level of support from boosters.

Estimated NIL Collective Funding per School:

To arrive at this estimate, we begin with the total NIL Market 2023-24 projection of $ 1.17 billion as presented in the Opensource report: NIL at Two of which $ 817 million is expected to be generated by NIL collectives supporting athletes at these schools:"

Btw: stop being gullible. It makes you look incredibly uninformed. There is no public data on NIL deals individually other than claims by universities who have ability to review deals avd make sure they (in Texas at least) don't violate the state law that allows private NIL deals.

As pointed out by The Film Guy, the only people that talk specifics are 1) agents and 2) the schools that lose out on players.

Both are inherently inaccurate and have a vested interest in inflating the numbers.

Whomever is behind the estimates (not the NCAA) is even more circumspect here:

https://nil-ncaa.com/methodology/

Quote:

To present the data on estimated funding available from NIL Collectives we rely on data from multiple sources as well as certain assumptions regarding the data. Unlike public Universities, virtually all NIL Collectives are privately controlled and have no obligation to publicly report information such as their annual fundraising or how funds are spent. Additionally, most NIL collectives are very protective of their funding.

Accordingly, our estimates are not what specific collectives receive in contributions. Instead, we are providing what we believe to be a reasonable estimate of funding a collective(s) supporting the school might be expected to generate in funding, given the school's historic level of support from boosters.
[emphasis original]
They're guessing based on "historic level of support from boosters."

Since NIL started in 2021:
Texas, playoffs - 2023, 2024
Ohio St, playoffs - 2022, 2024
LSU - nothing
Georgia, natty - 2021, 2022, playoffs - 2024 (although Georgia was pretty well set in 2021 and wasn't very active in the portal early on)
us - nothing
Michigan, natty - 2023, playoffs - 2022
Bama, playoffs - 2021, 2023
Florida - nothing
Clemson, playoffs - 2024

Kind of looks like the schools that have previously had success - before and after NIL - are the big spenders in NIL, Texas A&M being the outlier (lots or resources for not very good results)

I think Clemson spends most but not all of the NIL $$ on the current players on the roster as opposed to the incoming Fr.

Not sure how a coach can not participate in NIL, that is between players and organizations outside of the school. Is he goung to pull scholarships from players that sign deals? He does not really participate in the portal and that is entirely up to him, as long as he is coach.

Florida's facilities need updating, the swamp is old and tired, if they can't put together a good season to raise donor funds, they are in danger of complete collapse. Crazy to spend that on NIL instead of your program needs

Winning creates demand. Excess demand creates funding for capital expenditures…

On the other hand excess supply causes administrators to lose their jobs…

Well, those numbers are both estimates and then also collective totals. The Michigan QB was a deal with/through an individual and not the collective.

That is where all these numbers thrown out there are so full of crap. I mean if Phil Knight is personally bankrolling players for Oregon, how much does their collective really need to do?

"Collective funding." Does that include all funding?
