If you're set on keeping them like it's always appeared the powerful people will, then at least add FEMALE cheerleaders to the sideline for the TV cameras.
Stop showing up to yell practice and that would go away. I don't mind the game day yells but the fact they go overboard trying to look weird as hell doesn't make sense to me. You can keep tradition and not be weird about it. When yell leaders started, all they did was lead yell. They didn't do all that other weird stuff. That was added later

It's my opinion as well. I want to attract the best players and want players to want to be here, not just because of money. Kids aren't identifying with that. You guys that want to be successful on the field but don't want to change the silly aspects of the university are stuck in neutral.Quote:

Can you name any recruits who saw the yell leaders and said that's why they weren't coming here?
The sooner that people realize that yell practice is supposed to be quirky/corny the better.
The anti-cheerleader group think is such a weird hill to die on for a school that prides itself on conservative, traditional values.
I see no reason why a cheer or dance squad shouldn't be on the sidelines along side the yell leaders.

Graduated mid 80s, corps and band. For a long time I've thought we should have both the yell leaders and a squad like USC song girls (maybe our dance team) on the sidelines. Represent all of A&M. The last few years, it seems the yell leaders have done hardly anything as they've been largely replaced by pumped in sound. Plus what seemed quaint but loveable 30 years past the 50s now seems downright archaic another 40 years on. I'm with those who say they should be respectfully retired. Gig 'em!

Old Ags give money. Old Ags like cornball ***** No matter how embarrassing Yell Leaders are, they aren't going anywhere. My vote would be for them to be sent to elementary schools and old folks homes only. Nobody else thinks that **** is funny or normal.
C/O 93 here. The yell leaders have gotten weirder and weirder over the years. The spinning around like twirlers without a baton looks ridiculous. Just need them to lead yells and do away with the ghey theatrics.
They shouldn't be retired. They should just go back the their roots. Just lead yells and leave the intentionally weird stuff behind. It's not funny to anyone, and really serves no purpose.
