The best way to quit being a victim is to stop acting like a victim.
So true. But when you are a victim you are never at fault.

I would like to see more "thumbs up" than "horns down"
Root for your team, not against the other.
This is what I learned as a fish in the Corps in 1963.

Cannot disagree with a word of that.

I think it will be a fine line, but we really need to shed the "nice people" reputation that we have and cherish so much, but do so in a way that doesn't go against our values. To quote Road House, "be nice until it's time to not be nice."

Amen; we should really start using even more slurs towards folks of visiting teams!

(This is a satirical comment based upon OP's comment about an A&M fan using the N-word!)
That's not what I'm talking about. Plenty of Aggies can be foul with their language during games. I once yelled something at a game (when I was much younger and much more stupid) that I wished there was a nearby rock that I could crawl under after those words left my pie hole.

It's more about our welcoming persona that lends itself to the thought that we are pushovers. I mean, the sips literally just walked into our house and did our girlfriends, and we basically said "gee thanks" rather than kick their asses. No, not suggesting violence against anyone. Heck, I don't know what I'm suggesting.
No they didn't. They won a football game. That's it. And no one said "gee thanks" and no asses needed to be kicked. That's the whole point of the OP.

The only ones that think we're weak and "pushovers" are wannabe tough guys who think it's cool to bow up and act like they wanna fight over something stupid like comments made by know-nothings about our school and team. Most of the time the comments expose them for being ignorant or insecure, and wanting to fight them over it looks equally insecure, like the ring and degree aren't enough to be proud of on their own.

and when the war hymn and saw em off is so prominent, it's almost impossible to do this.

Summary: don't be a POS just because Sips are a POS to you.

And how a racial-slur got involved by a random person got stuck to all of us is beyond me.

The sips I know who went to texas have always been nice to me, possibly bc they're so used to meeting t-shirt Sip fans or smaller college people. T-shirt sip fans have always been the most pathetic and nasty and mocking.

The racial slur was included because it was one, probably but not certainly the most egregious, of many examples of how good people let provocation cause them to respond in ways that betray their values. I could have used many others, but this one was chosen because of how deeply affected this kid's classmate was...
