1. Beat Auburn on the road
2. Blow out tu at home
3. Don't get blown out in SEC Championship Game (maybe win or maybe lose a close game)
4. Receive playoff invitation

The committee is so incredibly spare at the point. Needs to be scrapped and just replaced with the bcs formula

This is a pretty goofy explanation to me. Ewers has looked pathetic and racked up yards vs bad teams. Then this corrupt committee says, "they're a top passing offense" to justify overrating them when they've been mediocre for the last month.

Basically this is saying divisions are needed within the super conferences. At least there will be more commonality with scheduling. Seriously, how are the teams with no chance at the conference championship game ranked ahead of teams that are? A more common schedule, if even it were 4 pods, will help things sort out better annually.
I know NOTHING!!!!

Yep

In their eyes we are obviously the worst of the 2 loss sec teams since we are all the way down at 15 while the next 2 loss sec Tennessee is at 11 UGA is 10 and ole miss is 9 and bama at 7

We are clearly not on the same level as those teams in their eyes

It is almost as if they watched the South Carolina game.

So our loss to South Carolina is worse than Alabama's loss to Vandy, Tennessee's loss to Arkansas or Ole Miss' loss to Kentucky?

Yes, only one team is not allowed to struggle at night on the road against a ranked team.

LOL, unless they lose to UK and A&M, the sips are in the playoffs.

Our good wins are getting worse which is not helping. But yes, apparently only one team in the SEC isn't allowed to struggle against good teams.

If we were to win our next two games but lose to Bama in the champ game, we would end up one spot below ND.

No way Texas can get above us with the heads up loss.

Committee would have to decide either to put Ole Miss or Texas in as the 4th SEC team. Vols loss to Hogs will keep them out most likely.

If Bama wins out but loses the championship game and are 10-3, they are in. They have signature wins over Georgia and SC, and no blowout losses.

If whorn goes 10-2 with a loss to us they are in over Ole Miss. The committee uses the eye test and they flash talent. They also bring in $$$ Just a respect thing, and the fact that Ole Miss to an awful Kentucky team won 4 games or whatever. Ole Miss also lost to a bad LSU team.

If we go 10-3 with a loss in the SEC championship game, it better be a last second loss. We aren't Bama, and we have a blowout loss. The committee also doesn't like shaky QB situations, and ours is up and down.

Seriously? Then why do they have Texas ranked above Georgia right now when Georgia beat Texas and has beaten two other top 25 teams: Clemson, TN. Texas doesn't have a win over a single top 25 raked team.

The committee doesn't care about quality of schedule and good wins. They care about wins and losses. The idiots also look at team stat rankings, which are affected by SoS.

The will put a two loss sip team in over us because sip has only two losses and have good team stats against a **** schedule.

We have to win the next three games to make the invite.

Its that simple.

SMU hasn't lost since switching to Jennings. They would smoke BYU if they played again and I think they beat Miami in the ACC championship game. They are a scary team for anyone to play.

I'm just happy to be in a position where we are talking about the playoffs around Thanksgiving. Go 1-0 this week, no more injuries, and let's go to war on 11/30.

texas is in if the beat UK esp if they blow them out and if they lose in a competitive game with us.

IU is out with a loss to tOSU esp if its a blowout. I think SEC will get 5 (Ala, Ga, UT, texas, A&M, Ole Miss). If we beat texas and Aub, then UT is out. If we lose either game, then the other 5.

If Ala, Ga, Ole Miss wins out they are locks. texas seems safe with a win against UK. The last spot is us vs UT and we control our own destiny.

Committee currently has 2 loss Tennessee 4 spots below 2 loss bama but Tennessee beat them

Committee will do whatever it wants: it already is talking about eye test and other vague subjective crap

We are 15, sips are 3, gap is too wide for us to jump them with a win

Win and we'll be in the 10-12 range and sips will fall to the 6-9 range

Down at 15 the committee does not think of us as highly as the other 2 loss sec teams that are between 7 and 11

My read on this is we have to Win out and win in Atlanta or we will be out

Yeah, just don't get blown out in the conference championship. You can't give them reason to say Texas is better than us one week after we beat them. They're probably more likely give 5 teams to the SEC to sneak Texas in. But if we lost the SEC trophy game by 2 TDs and our offense looks mediocre, then who knows.

I assume the committee is kind of corrupt.

10-2 sips don't make it. Too many 10-2 teams with much much better resumes.

Taking loss #2 usually tumbles teams.

Wrong. Texas is in unless they lose the next 2 games. They were in last year over the 2 time defending national champs, who would probably have 3 peated.

Georgia should have beat Bama if they wanted to make the playoffs.

It hurts, but the biggest issue is we haven't played, or beaten, ANY of the other top SEC teams.
Beat tu, and that will sort itself out.

but here's one to watch: South Carolina beating Clemson would help us significantly, and could easily happen.

Maybe so. But then why play the games? Why aren't we getting that same treatment with Weigman having one of the worst QB performances of the year where we probably win with Reed?

Because it's BS. Games should matter, but they don't. Unless the committee decides they do. But then for another team, stats and eye test will matter. It's all bull*****

But losing to Kentucky, a FAR worse team, is not killer. And losing to Arkansas while putting up zero offense is not killer. Losing to NIU is not killer.

Stop with this crap. It's just not true. We are being held to a standard other teams aren't.

Completely disagree with this

Of all the two loss teams in the SEC they have beaten someone pretty big we havent , BUT we can in two weeks

And everyone arguing why Texas is ahead of Georgia who beat them...losses matter Texas has 1 Georgia has two

Beat Auburn and Texas and everything about the two loss teams above us doesnt apply anymore ...then you can look at conspiracies all you want

People are WAY overthinking the current rankings. Tennessee and Ole Miss have already played their tough games. There's nothing left on their schedule.

Our schedule is bookended by our two toughest game. We have an HUGE opportunity to move up. If we were 8-2 and behind them AFTER having already played and beaten the highest ranked opponent on the schedule, THEN I'd agree that we're out. But its still in FRONT of us.

So in your scenario, how did UGA miss out last year?

Last year was a 4 team playoff and the SEC got one in.

If your conference gets ONE in, then it is a no brainer the championship game winner goes over the loser.

The difference this year is the SEC will likely get 4 in, so you're choosing 3 OTHER teams over the loser. That is 100% different.

I think the committee is basing their rankings on most of these top teams winning out.

I suspect if we beat tu, they'll fall to around 10-12 and we'll rise to 6 or so. That gives them room to keep us in with a respectable loss in the championship and puts tu where they could be in or out depending on what other teams do.

I still say there is zero chance we get left out with a non-blowout conference game loss. The fact that so many talking heads are talking about this exact scenario and how terrible it would be for them to punish the conference championship game loser I think helps us because it will lead to the committee making sure their pre-championship game rankings in the B10 and SEC are such that the losers can weather a small drop.
