Two enormous developments for the scenario where we win out in the regular season and lose the SEC championship game.

First: Tennessee is at #11 and already out of the field. They have nothing really to add to their resume left. They have 6-6 Vandy and 3-9 UTEP left. I think they're out barring mass chaos.

2nd: Missouri is #23 at 7-3. The bottom of the poll is moving around wildly. BUT Missouri finishing 9-3 and ranked would give us 2 ranked wins. More than the sips, more than Tennessee, and the same as Ole Miss.

Extra note is that even Ole Miss at #9 isn't safe. Their non-conference schedule is trash. Maybe the worst in conference. They have the worst loss at home likely to 4-8 Kentucky. Yes they've beaten a team we lost to in South Carolina. BUT we've beaten a team they've lost to in LSU.

SMU ahead of BYU when they both have one loss and SMU's was to BYU is absolutely idiotic. Boise State ahead of both of them having not beaten anyone is even more idiotic.

I see it differently. I think our Aggies have to win out. tu can lose another game, even to Kentucky, and still make it comfortably.

if we beat Texas and they finish 10-2 and miss championship game… they will take a bigger fall than many think… A LOT to shake out these last 2-3 weeks

Let's say there is a conspiracy theory in favor of the sips, IF we beat them I think we're tied at the hip and go into the playoff together at Ole Miss's expense.

That was the exact scenario that happened last year despite what our Maroon goggles want to believe. The committee wanted to put Bama in. But they couldn't leave out a team with the same number of wins with a straight head to head win over Bama. So BOTH texas and Bama went into the playoff at Florida State's expense.

That's what would happen this year. Losing at home to 4-8 Kentucky has consequences. Right now its only 4-6 UK. But that loss gets worse every week. Sorry Lane.

The committee said tonight that they will value teams that make the Conference championship.

I didn't believe before, but now I think if we beat Auburn and Texas we are in. We just can't get blown out in SEC Championship.

It looks like if texas beats UK, they will be locked. I don't see a fall from 2 to out of ranking with a top 10 def and offense.

Indiana is #7 and undefeated. If they lose to tOSU, they will be out of it with no meaningful game to get back in. They better either win or lose in a very competitive match. If they get blown out by 17+, they will be out. The buffer they have right now is #11 Ga who is currently last team in. In no way are they going to put a 1 loss Indiana over a 2 loss SEC.

I fully expect that a 2 loss texas team will be put at 7-10.

I used to think a 3 loss Aggies with a SEC champ birth would be a tiebreaker but doesn't look like the case.

BYU lost to Kansas, who was like 4-6 coming into the game. That's bad. Also why Ole Miss should be penalized, yet get the benefit of the doubt thanks to Kentucky only recently being perceived as being awful and for Ole Miss beating Georgia - who sucks at offense.

Yeah, just don't get blown out in the conference championship. You can't give them reason to say Texas is better than us one week after we beat them. They're probably more likely give 5 teams to the SEC to sneak Texas in. But if we lost the SEC trophy game by 2 TDs and our offense looks mediocre, then who knows.

I assume the committee is kind of corrupt.

I agree. A lot to play out though. Georgia dropped 9 spots when they lost to Ole Miss who jumped 5 spots. I suspect you would see similar movement if A&M beat Texas which would put Texas at 11/12 and A&M at 9/10. A&M might even jump Ole Miss if that happened.

One thing that has been tossed around but people here don't buy is that the SEC could get 5 teams. Pate has made this point basically saying if the committee has to decide be SEC #5 or a 1 loss Indiana then they will go with the SEC team because Sankey will burn it down if the #11 team is left out because Boise and BYU are conference champs. If things ended today I guarantee this model would get blown up before the 2026 year starts.

Yep

In their eyes we are obviously the worst of the 2 loss sec teams since we are all the way down at 15 while the next 2 loss sec Tennessee is at 11 UGA is 10 and ole miss is 9 and bama at 7

We are clearly not on the same level as those teams in their eyes

Wanna bet? We will get punished for having to play another game and losing said game if it comes to that. Even though nobody gives a damn about t.u. outside of Texas the networks still have a hardon for them.

I agree, but this same thing happened to notre dame in 1993:

They beat Florida st and then turned around and lost to Boston college in thr road the next week.

Both teams finished the season with 1 loss but they voted fsu national champs not notre dame

True for now. Totally different if we finish 10-2. We still have the stink of the South Carolina game on us. If we finish 10-2, winning the regular season sec outright and in championship game then it all changes dramatically.

That said we are the Aggies so we will probably drop the last and finish 8-4, where we feel most comfortable.

You probably heard what you wanted to hear. What he did was give a lot of words that did not directly answer the question, talking out both sides of his mouth. They're pretending to protect CCG losers, while giving themselves the leeway to leapfrog them with a less deserving blue blood.
