The penalties shouldn't be such an issue. And, S Turner needs ride the pine for a while. Yeah he's good, but is a head case.

Moose only in cuz Allen out w injury and probably lost for the season. Allen has been better than Moose (consistency, better route running w/in scheme). Do think Moose was going to play being Sr night regardless.

Moose is talented, but has to really step up as we need him to play consistently.

Would really like to see DiNota in more short yardage situations. I like the way he plays and his energy. Daniels is great and all but I don't feel confident in "must have yardage" with him like I did with Moss. We need an answer for that and maybe DiNota could be a serviceable option. EJ Smith is not.

The Auburn game looms large right now. I would expect teams to focus on stopping the run and force us to pass but, without Moss, just how much focus on the run is required remains debatable. Hopefully the combination of Daniels and Reed will be enough because beyond that, what we have is hardly threatening. I was hoping to at least get a glimpse of another alternative but that didnt happen.

Plus, after Weigman's showing, the notion that he could come off the bench and light up a defense overplaying the run seems to have gone up in smoke. O'Neil looked good but I'm not excited at the prospect of a guy with 6 passes against NMSU to be able to carry the offense down the stretch. Our coaches definitely have their hands full.

Offense without Moss is like pulling teeth.

Also, please no more Weigman. He's done for.

Defense is solid, but may break if constantly exposed.

The main goal of a glorified scrimmage like that is to break a sweat and lots of guys play and nobody gets hurt.

The goal isn't to win by 50 or 60. But clearly you think that should have been the goal.

Oklahoma won at Auburn and their offense is much worse then ours even without Moss.

The Auburn game will be primarily won by our defense showing up to play (or not) and our offense not making big mistakes with turnovers. Our defense shows up and gets after them then 20-24 points will be enough to win.

Once you've established the other team cannot beat you, you spend the rest of it as the best live practice you'll ever have - putting your guys in non-comfortable situations against a live opponent in a live stadium and seeing how they perform; seeing how they line up, seeing how the respond to coaching, and work on plays that might make the difference against Auburn and those dirty sips.

You could let Reed run 40 option reads and let him and Daniels each rush for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns, but what does that do for your next week and the week after?

I agree a stellar defensive performance, if we get it, could get us past Auburn. I have doubts it can carry us afterward.

Prediction (based on 30 years): We will win at Auburn but it will come down to the wire and probably some overtimes. A few more dudes get hurt.

Then the tu game will be super hyped (Ags will be pumped up) and we hang with them the first half but the mistakes cost us the game right after the kick off to start the second half.

No one ever figured we would be doing this good with a new coach. Unheard of in Aggie football. This record is what we expect year 3 in years past.

I feel the schedule and the luck of having to run two QBs threw off other teams but that only lasts so long. We are who we are…….but we are poised to be great with Elko in the future for sure.

We will need a flawless performance from this team to beat tu and we are running without a few cylinders. Maybe I'm wrong and Elko has some tricks up his sleeve with what he has left of this banged up team.

Tight ends are going to be counted on to replace Moss touches. That was clear yesterday .i'd say it was pretty effective to the degree you can tell vs NM State.

The Swede could be very effective. Big guy that moves well and can catch the ball.

Exactly. Coaching staff got what they needed out of the game. If a fan is disappointed the O didn't hang 50+ on NMS, that's on the fan.

Better keep working….

If he could get the long ball down, this offense will look very different. The ball he threw against LSU was perfection, but he missed multiple yesterday.

It's not just the long ball but that would go a long way in improving the offense

Like the wrinkle finding the TE's. Long Ball accuracy still needs work. (That's where Wegman is/was better.)

We really started looking for another RB. Really thin their now.

May be down another Receiver. When will Moose pull his head out and focus. We could use his talents (and on something other than blocking or prissy crossing routes.

And we need understand "Leading the opponent statistically in PENLTIES (again) is NOT a Good Thing.

We did score on the first 4 possessions of the game - 3 TD and a FG.

But the last 7 possessions - granted, with a lot of 2nd/3rd stringers playing - we only scored on 2 of the last 7 possessions and had 2 turnovers.

4 of their other 9 opponents this season scored more points that we did - Fresno St (48), New Mexico (50), Jax St (54), Western KY (41).

Your point?

We were in control and it eas obvious after the second drive when we started pulling starters and playing backups. We chose to keep Reed in the pocket and make him throw as well as work on getting EJ some touches. If we had played our normal game we eaisly would had been up by at least 30 at half time.

Reading too much into what we did on offense on this game is really dumb.

My only point is that is why quite a few on here are disappointed in the offensive output. If you missed the 1st Q you'd think we looked pretty crappy on offense vs a team that is in the bottom 10 of all of FBS. Elko obviously not going for style points, in favor of playing as many guys as possible.

Then we are pretty much in agreement. Although i think Elko would had liked to get the style points playing other players and working on passing were more important.

Reed threw some good balls, even the deep balls were good, just a little off (to the correct side).
His bad balls are when he gets hurried, even if sone were just mental w the time clock in every QBs head.

When he's settled and controlled, even while on the move, he throws a pretty good ball.

Might need to let off the gas on some short balls though.

I made the mistake of checking the game thread and posts like these are all over the game boards. Spewing nothing but negativity.

I laugh at most these fans. They are clueless.

Reed had a STELLAR offensive day. They were running on ALL cylinders. He had what almost 200 yards passing in the 1st quarter?

So if 200 yards passing in the 1st quarter isnt a good offense, you guy need to start watching curling or something that isn't so complicated to pick up.

Uhhhh, the zoo. So annoying at times.

It was very apparent to anyone who knows the game that A&M took off the gas and spend 3/4 of that game experimenting and getting 2nd and 3rd stringers lots and lots of reps.

And that is exactly when the ass whooping slowed down. After the 1st quarter....Klein was intentional in their approach to develop this team further.

Everyone else complaining about the performance...**** ur holes!! Said nicely....

using high stats against a bad team to bolster your argument is disingenuous. Plenty of us here watched the game and saw with our own eyes the many missed throws to wide open receivers and the balls thrown way too hot with bad lower body mechanics

Reed's accuracy is an issue that will not be fixed this season.

I am glad we got the reps we did against NMst to help Marcel develop
