With what you know today about our RB situation.

Do we beat Texas in 3 wks?

The DB that is practicing at RB is not someone most suspect which makes me think it's my guess. Myles Davis.

But don't expect whoever it is to play much if at all. We have some decent walk-ons.

Don't be surpried if we see a fee new wrinkles that we haven't used often of at all.

As for tu I think we win of we play like we did before USCe.

Doesn't he actually play a decent number of snaps on the defense?

Our defense is going to have to play it's A game and not give up busted plays to sip out the gates.

Our OL is going to have to put together the game they've been building up to all season long.

Amari Daniels has a great opportunity to prove that he can be RB1b next season and I expect him to seize it. Smith can grind out some extra runs as needed.

It's time to get creative on offense. I think that will include some Bussey action.

I'd also expect the starting QB to be on a short leash in this game, but also rely on the short quick pass to keep sip on their heels and our QB confident.

12th Man is gonna need to step up big but I'm not worried about that.

We got this.

Do you know something about Moss that we do not? I would think Moss would still be RB1 next year

Something tells me Owens will suit up for Texas.

Hes been walking with no boot or cast for a few weeks now and Elko last week said he's "testing" things out. I feel like we are gonna keep that under wraps until Nov 30. Obviously, if that happens then rust and conditioning is a completely different factor all together.

You're probably right. Some reason I was assuming he was going pro, but the injury might have set that back unfortunately. Nonetheless, Amari has to be salivating at the opportunity in front of him.

If Moss returns it eill ne a toss up between him and Owens for RB1. Most likely 1a and 1b with Daniels 2

One of the hardest things for RB isn't carrying the rock but executing blocks including pass pro. So I suspect it isn't so easy to just plug and play an RB that can execute blocking scenes at the desired level.

I hope you are right! Even 5-6 run attempts would help

Exactly. A big reason why the DB practing at RB will most likely be emergency only.

Daniels should rest up and not risk injury this week

What about putting Conner and Marcel in the backfield together? We could run a 6 man football offense.

In all seriousness, this is a major test for Collin Klein. I hope he has some tricks up his sleeve, but I am not optimistic. Losing Moss was probably the one injury we couldn't afford this year, so if course that was what we got.

No. You play him early and hope we jump out to a big lead and can pull him for EJ Smith to become primary and walk-ons as back up.

I'd worry more about being able to move the ball in the air. We struggle with the forward pass. Our OL is going to continue to limit our RBs success, even if Florida averaged 4 YPC and got 200 yards against Sips this last weekend.

You certainly could. See little reason to do so. Keeping fingers crossed if he plays.

Personally think the DB that could transform into emergency RB would either be B. Rogers (who was over 1000 yd back as a JR HS; plays ST and not much in secondary and as believe he's 3rd string nickel... I think) or J Thomas (he played some as RB in HS but plays a bit more on defense and unsure on ST).

Per Elko, it's will not be Terry B as he stated that he would not line up as a RB since he's carrying a lot of things now (maybe a smoke screen...pseudo pun intended). Think he could occasionally be back there as a WR in the backfield or jet screen scenarios (like used already; would love to see some shovel passes to him too).

Ultimately, think they are just going to use A DiNota as he was 4th string on the depth chart (after R Owens went down) albeit he's just a b/w the Tackles type RB (pseudo-FB), but maybe best avail blocker after Amari/Smith (esp. w pass pro on the depth chart).

I cant beleive the other rb's on the roster suck so bad we are converting a db.
vander54

S
We have 2 scholarship RBs left. With the way we run the ball we need 5 or 6.

The conversion is not to expect him to play but to be there if absolutely needed.

I don't think anyone in this forum is overlooking Auburn. It's just that if we lose that game, we all know there's nothing more to talk about.

Could be Rogers but he is a little small for RB.

I've been stating this before the year began. RB depth is an issue on the team esp. recruting top talent, depth. Have 1 committed for FY25 (Riden - injured in HS I think), had 0 in FY24, had 1 committed in FY23 (Owens). Have Owens and Moss go down exposes this (most top teams have at least 6 RBs of high caliber). I do think we missed out on C Durham (as thought he was best Tx back in the state last year).

RB and WR recruiting has to improve (esp. RB if we are a running 'team') and assuming Txfr portal to add better depth (has to be higher quality than EJ Smith though).

The days of stacked RB rooms 5 RBs deep are coming to an end in the new portal/nil world.

EVERY team in the country would have RB depth issues when their top two go down. We have two solid players at this position now.

I think what A&M needs at RB with Moss out is a Thumper. Not some 190 lb DB. Daniels and Smith are fine from a speed standpoint. We need a short yardage / goaline guy.

I'm wondering if Tillman or Crosby see time. Tillman is listed at 220. Crosby is 215.

Nah. It will just require smarter decisions. 5/6 With 1 or 2 leaving every year. You replace them with 1 or 2 HS guys.

We play at least 3 a game and 4 or 5 would see touches over the year. So worst case scenario 1 or 2 sit the year and redshirt.

Basically if you have 2/3 upperclassmen and 2/3 fresh/soph it would work. We rotate enough
