I've been wondering about Tillman also, hmmmm
You know we are down to two healthy scholarship RBs, right? We have a walkon, Dinota, who is likely our clear cut 3rd. But getting a better talent / athlete in there in case of emergency is just the smart thing to do. Especially when you consider that there are a few on our team that were better HS RBs than our walk on was.Kozmozag said:
I cant beleive the other rb's on the roster suck so bad we are converting a db.
Well he just had a bye week. We play at Auburn the next week. Ideally, you don't go 3 weeks between carries for your top available RB.merch said:
You certainly could. See little reason to do so. Keeping fingers crossed if he plays.
Every team would have a drop off. Sure. But most teams have more than 4 total on scholarship to begin fall camp. We were always beginning the season on the low end. Ideally, you carry 5-6.rootube said:90ags said:
I've been stating this before the year began. RB depth is an issue on the team esp. recruting top talent, depth. Have 1 committed for FY25 (Riden - injured in HS I think), had 0 in FY24, had 1 committed in FY23 (Owens). Have Owens and Moss go down exposes this (most top teams have at least 6 RBs of high caliber). I do think we missed out on C Durham (as thought he was best Tx back in the state last year).
RB and WR recruiting has to improve (esp. RB if we are a running 'team') and assuming Txfr portal to add better depth (has to be higher quality than EJ Smith though).
EVERY team in the country would have RB depth issues when their top two go down. We have two solid players at this position now.

Uh we need to beat Auburn first

I thought Daniels was out of eligibility? Was I wrong about that?

I'd worry more about being able to move the ball in the air. We struggle with the forward pass. Our OL is going to continue to limit our RBs success, even if Florida averaged 4 YPC and got 200 yards against Sips this last weekend.
Any updates on Bisontis?

Not true IMO for Bama, tOSU, LSU is pretty deep (w injuries), tu has stepped up, PSU, etc...the perennial players in the top echelon.
Think you'll see the top programs are easily 5-6 deep w typically 2 RBs recruited each year. As shown, we've recruited 2 RBs over the last 3 yrs and 1 txfr...talent depth is lacking.
If we are going to be more run oriented think it will become imperative, but assuming via txfr portal as HS recruiting isn't there.

tu run game isnt great by any standard. Not sure on how bad the injury bug hit the others.

They have 3 RBs at 60+ carries averaging 5 yards a carry.
We have 1 RB at 60+ carries averaging 5 yards a carry.
That's a huge advantage for them going into that game assuming EJS or Owens don't show up and start balling out unexpectedly.
Klein is going to really need to scheme up some solutions to overcome our RB depth situation (and I say depth situation because I think Daniels can be adequate for 15-17 carries but then what after that?)

Are we overlooking the possibility of Reuben Owens returning ahead of schedule?
His dad hinted at a return for any postseason play. But you have confirmation that he's already practicing?vander54 said:Mule said:

He is practicing and he's hinted at it. So it's possible.
I don't want him back until he's ready though. Don't rush him back because of Moss.

If he's practicing, he's likely playing against the sips.

This contradicts what his dad supposedly said….available "maybe" post-season….meaning he can't play against the sips during the regular season without losing his medical redshirt year….can somebody more knowledgeable of redshirt terms and conditions please clarify….
