I cant beleive the other rb's on the roster suck so bad we are converting a db.
You know we are down to two healthy scholarship RBs, right? We have a walkon, Dinota, who is likely our clear cut 3rd. But getting a better talent / athlete in there in case of emergency is just the smart thing to do. Especially when you consider that there are a few on our team that were better HS RBs than our walk on was.

Most likely, he will never be used. But if we have one more injury, we may just have to.

You certainly could. See little reason to do so. Keeping fingers crossed if he plays.
Well he just had a bye week. We play at Auburn the next week. Ideally, you don't go 3 weeks between carries for your top available RB.

So there's at least one reason. I wouldn't run him 15 times. But certainly 6-7 carries, and 2-3 series and pull him. So long as the game doesn't look like it will ever be in doubt.

I've been stating this before the year began. RB depth is an issue on the team esp. recruting top talent, depth. Have 1 committed for FY25 (Riden - injured in HS I think), had 0 in FY24, had 1 committed in FY23 (Owens). Have Owens and Moss go down exposes this (most top teams have at least 6 RBs of high caliber). I do think we missed out on C Durham (as thought he was best Tx back in the state last year).

RB and WR recruiting has to improve (esp. RB if we are a running 'team') and assuming Txfr portal to add better depth (has to be higher quality than EJ Smith though).

EVERY team in the country would have RB depth issues when their top two go down. We have two solid players at this position now.
Every team would have a drop off. Sure. But most teams have more than 4 total on scholarship to begin fall camp. We were always beginning the season on the low end. Ideally, you carry 5-6.

A quick look at the scholarship distribution list on 247:

Florida 6
Missouri 6
Texas 5
Auburn 5
South Carolina 5
LSU 5
ND 5
Arkansas 4
Miss State 4

Arkansas and Miss State were the only other P4 teams on our schedule that only had 4 like us. The other 7 had 5+. It may not seem like that big of a deal, but the difference between 4 and 5 is pretty substantial when 2 options go down. Having 3 versus 2 left would be huge right about now.

I can't believe the school with the 12th man tradition can't wrap their heads around how we are going to manage if players get hurt. Injuries are part of the game. We have two solid RB's on our roster. Hopefully they stay healthy. If not, next man up.

People are sleeping on Amari Daniels. He is a great player. I have a feeling that Marcel Reed will also contribute to our rushing total over the next few games. Just a guess.

Not true IMO for Bama, tOSU, LSU is pretty deep (w injuries), tu has stepped up, PSU, etc...the perennial players in the top echelon.

Think you'll see the top programs are easily 5-6 deep w typically 2 RBs recruited each year. As shown, we've recruited 2 RBs over the last 3 yrs and 1 txfr...talent depth is lacking.

If we are going to be more run oriented think it will become imperative, but assuming via txfr portal as HS recruiting isn't there.

Would hope we get up enough against Nmsu to rest both smith and daniels and get plenty of reps for rb3, 4, etc.

Jmo. Elko is smart and he's going to have something workable as a contingency plan. It's not going to be as good as having Moss but it may also open up some possibilities for things that Moss wasn't wired for .

One would think the between the tackle counters will probably be reduced considerably

He's class of 2021 and only played in 4 games that year so he should be a RS Sr next year. And after looking at EJ Smith it looks like he could have a year left.

I'd worry more about being able to move the ball in the air. We struggle with the forward pass. Our OL is going to continue to limit our RBs success, even if Florida averaged 4 YPC and got 200 yards against Sips this last weekend.

Any updates on Bisontis?

He is listed as questionable. We may get him back in a week or two.

Thomas was a stud RB for one of the best teams in Texas at SOC. Rogers is also an excellent option.

Amari Daniels numbers are about as good as any horn RB. I certainly wouldn't trade him for any horn RB's so we are going to be OK.

tu run game isnt great by any standard. Not sure on how bad the injury bug hit the others.

They have 3 RBs at 60+ carries averaging 5 yards a carry.

We have 1 RB at 60+ carries averaging 5 yards a carry.

That's a huge advantage for them going into that game assuming EJS or Owens don't show up and start balling out unexpectedly.

Klein is going to really need to scheme up some solutions to overcome our RB depth situation (and I say depth situation because I think Daniels can be adequate for 15-17 carries but then what after that?)

Prime example of how stats can be misleading. Dig into each player a little more and you'll see they aren't anything special. Most their yards against UF came when the game was out of reach. When they play good defenses (UGA, and Vandy) they were contained or shut down. OU is the exception but Windsors yards came on 2 plays. Most their yards came against extremely weak teams.

The key to stopping Texas is tackling. They don't throw deep a lot and try to make quick throws. Keep their receivers in front of the defense and don't have a USCe game and we should do ok.

Oh yeah and even though their OL is supposed to be great they allowed 7 sacks to UGA and 4 to Vandy.

He is practicing and he's hinted at it. So it's possible.

I don't want him back until he's ready though. Don't rush him back because of Moss.

This contradicts what his dad supposedly said….available "maybe" post-season….meaning he can't play against the sips during the regular season without losing his medical redshirt year….can somebody more knowledgeable of redshirt terms and conditions please clarify….

At this point he will not lose his redshirrt. To redshirt you must play in 4 or less regular season games.
