Provided there's just SEC chalk on our end and Texas's end, that game is one of the first playoff games of the year.

Winner goes to the SEC Championship and has a right to go into the CFP.

Loser goes to some weird bowl against Iowa or Minnesota.

Right?

I believe they have kentucky, arkansas, Florida and us, in no particular order. Good chance they drop one.

tu still has UF, UK, and Arkansas before us. They could still drop one more game prior to Kyle.

Texas wouldn't be 10-1 if we beat them, they'd be 9-2. They lost to Georgia.

Read again. 10-1 is 11 games.

He is saying that if they get to our game 10-1, they are in the playoff. He's right.

There are 12 regular season games.

If tu doesn't get their offense figured out, they will drop another game before playing us. From what I've seen, they have an elite defense, but they usually put together one half of decent offense per game. Don't forget that they've seriously struggled (offensively) against a terrible OU team, a good (but I'm not sure great) Georgia, and a bad Vanderbilt (defense). Arkansas will be a tough environment but I think they could lose to just about anyone left on their schedule.

If Texas wins each of their remaining games and loses to A&M, they will finish 4th in the conference behind A&M, Georgia, and LSU

If A&M beats Auburn and loses to Texas, they will finish 4th in the conference behind Georgia, Texas, and Alabama.

The Texas A&M v Texas game is a playoff to the SEC Championship Game

LOL. We just got curb stomped by SC and people are still talking like we can beat t.u.
Never change, TexAgs.

pretty much correct.

but if texas loses, they are still likely in the playoffs. "SEC standings" won't matter. its the playoff rankings that matter.

That's not what I've read elsewhere.

Huh? That has nothing to do with what I posted.

SEC championship game is determined by SEC rankings.

Playoffs are determined by playoff committee rankings.

Why wouldn't we be able to beat Texas?

Kentucky beat Ole Miss (in Oxford) in week 5
Arkansas beat Tennessee in week 6
Vanderbilt beat Alabama in week 6

I don't think any of the above would be less surprising that A&M beating Texas in a likely night game in College Station.

This thread is about who goes to the SEC Championship

It's also about where the loser of our game goes:

I wish I had the same faith in their ability to not drop another game before 11/30.
BMX Bandit

I'm not saying they won't lose again, that game in Arkansas will be very tough and they have a chance to lose there
hornfan89

If they lose two more games, let's say against Arky and y'all, there is no way they make the playoff. 9-3 with the best win being against Vandy? I understand y'all believe in some grand conspiracy but this is pretty far fetched.
BMX Bandit
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't disagree with that.

This thread pretty much assumes that both get to our game without losing. Otherwise, it's not a de facto playoff game

I have Ags and LSU in SEC championship game personally.
Ole Miss beats Georgia imo
LSU hammers Bama
Georgia beats Tenn

It would create a very interesting national playoff scenario if all that happens. I think 4 Big 10 teams get in. It is looking like 1-2 ACC and 1-2 Big xii ( my biggest worry is an upset of BYU in championship game getting 2 teams in ). I will call it 3 total from ACC and Big xii. ND is likely in and so is G5. That leaves 3 teams from SEC. If my scenario above plays out, the loser of SEC championship game is out. How do you decide other 2 teams between Georgia, Ole Miss, Tenn, and Texas? My bet is Georgia and Ole Miss would get in.
hornfan89
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's a fair point. I would still be inclined to believe that a 10-2 Texas doesn't make it in. Their would be no real impressive victories to bolster them. If they make it in that scenario, I would say it's because of the SEC affiliation and less to do with it being Texas.

Kentucky might give the best chance. UF is down to 3rd string QB. Green got the piss beat out of him this weekend and doesn't look like the same athletic QB that we saw in Arlington.

the SEC needs an upset in the B1G in the final month

Ohio State, Penn State, or Indiana taking a surprise loss

otherwise the B1G is tracking to 4 teams...and that might limit the SEC to 3

LOL. We are 7-2 on the year and tied for first in the SEC. People acting like the result of the last game is the only indicator of future performance.

I can see the Big 12 being a bid stealer too. If BYU wins out but loses to ISU in their championship game BYU probably gets an at large. We need ASU to trip them up before then.

If SMU wins out and beats Miami in the ACC conference championship game, and Miami hasn't dropped a game before then, then the ACC could have two teams as well.

ACC will have two teams- hopefully Miami as the 13-0 conference champ

and SMU as 12-1 conference runner up

SC was never a bad team. Too many people looked at W/L and bought into the hype.
