He's wrong. We didn't need to lose. This loss is a disaster in that our hopes for a spot in the CFP are over.
lol - no they're not.
If we win out, we're in the CFP, 100%
If we win out, we're also more likely than not in the SEC championship game.
All that losing this game did was basically require us to beat tu to not have to need help with either of those goals. Had we won, there was a world in which we were locked in to the SEC championship game before we even play tu. That's gone.
But no, a 10-2 A&M team, going to the SEC championship (and winning OR losing) is going to the CFP.
Also, if we go 10-2, the only SEC teams that could be tied with us are UGA, Tennessee and LSU (we'd be giving tu their 2nd loss in that case). We hold the direct tie breaker over LSU because we beat them. We hold the tiebreaker (with LSU) over UT because we'd have beaten all common opponents along with LSU while UT lost to Arkie.
Seriously, all this loss did was make it unlikely we get to the playoff of sec championship with a loss to tu. That's it
Now you can debate whether or not we are capable of winning out, but that has nothing to do with this particular loss.
