I was honestly wondering the same thing. It's like their players were covered in lube.

At least they used it somewhere

We couldn't tackle the ND RB either.

Back in my day, we played in honest fabrics, like cotton or wool. None of this fancy space-age, high-tech crap, Jerry!

Now do why we couldn't score in the 2nd half
They obviously tilted the field using hydraulic jacks so that we had to run uphill. Then at the end of the 3rd quarter, tilted it the other way. Now you know why the commercial breaks are so long.

Don't get too cocky, you're still South Carolina buddy. 1 conference championship in the history of your program and it was in the ACC.

poor pass rush lane discipline. D-ends losing contain- rushers not willing to break down, but just flying at-and past- the QB. Compounded by a lack of wrapping up and TACKLING, not just trying to HIT someone down.

Our defense either went high or went for the strip (which is rarely successful).

Its hard to tackle anyone by the shoulder pads.

Honestly I remember watching it and thinking "their uniforms look shiny, like the old school material we used to wear in high school that wasn't very breathable"

I think their QB being 240 pounds with tree trunk legs probably had a role in the result. The lead running back was a big boy too, and their X receiver was like 6'5".

Sometimes you have to credit them playing a smart, physical game. We ran into a bye-week, Homecoming buzzsaw and didn't play well.

Or you could assume they covered their jerseys in elephant jizz and we somehow didn't notice. No wrong answers here.

I mean what's more likely- a team that's 5-0 in the SEC suddenly has their worst defensive performance in close to a decade, or the new SC uniforms were suspiciously slippery. both sound pretty unbelievable

Almost as unbelievable as us having 7 penalties (6 on the defense) and SC having 0 calls from zebras (2 kicks out of bounds and delay of game, not up to refs judgement)

And SC averaged 7.5 penalties before Saturday… just more homecoming magic I suppose

Had we not missed multiple critical tackles in the first half, SC might not have had a point that half. It's hard to believe in a conspiracy, especially given we ARE lacking in the tackling department. But I don't think it's out of bounds for discussion given how many tackles SC was able to break while that not exactly being something they have been able to do all year.

I'll say this...

I was in Houston watching with one of my adult sons. We both looked at each other at one point and said "do they have lube on their jerseys?".

I've never witnessed a team I follow have that kind of issue. I've also never suspected that another team might have something on their jerseys giving them an advantage like that. Ever. Until this game.

Another poster also made a good observation. He said it seemed like SC players had a force field around them. In addition to slipping off, we flat out whiffed numerous tackle attempts. It was bizarre.

In any case, that was the most frustrating football watching I can remember. To have the suckers literally in our grasp over and over, only to watch them get loose and get 10 yards was excruciating.

Tis true. And even sadder.
