Wonder why Elko can get away with saying " execute."
After he said that, he said what to execute, rather than love trust and believe in each other

Because we never actually executed and he never adjusted anything. He just did the same thing over and over and over

Elko seems to be prepping the players well for SC in his post-game speech, but a lot of fans on this board are overlooking SC this week.

Does that mean we're screwed?

(Have to do it cuz I can't help myself): Elko told the WRs to get open? So many on this board are convince CW is solely to blame and it's not on the WRs…

Positive response is that this is badass. So glad we got him as our coach.
It is for this reason, and the fact that he was ADAMANT in his pressers that CW was "put in a bad position by everyone, including the coaches" that I believe CW will be QB1 Saturday. I hope I'm wrong though...

Weigmans read issues are obvious on film. It's not like elko would have watched tape at that point. Also, at halftime, what is the right move for a coach? To tell his players the qb had a **** half, or to push the wideouts to give max effort?

shouldn't we hire someone to sit up high and try to coordinate the offense? sorta be the eyes for the coach so adjustments can be made? I know it's complicated, but if we work really hard it might be possible!

Lieing to d1 players instills confidence. those guys don't know **** about football and gots da stupidz

Not true there were plenty of moments when Jimbo adjusted.

I wish so many could've seen Coach Sherrill's '86 bu pregame speech. Great speech. And we go out & get down 17-0.

Great memories of that game.

My GF '84 (now wife of 37 years) and I were on the road and running late. On highway 6 heading out of Hearne, there's that nasty thump/thump/thump sound. Sure enough a flat. I get out to change it. Just starting to tighten the lug nuts I realize I'm kneeling in an ant bed - well crap, I'm covered in fire ants. I quickly strip of the pants, tighten the lug nuts, shake out the pants and toss them in the back seat, and speed on down hwy 6. Five miles later, the spare goes flat. So now I'm tireless, pantless and covered in ant bites. I get the pants de-anted, get dressed and wave down help. I leave Diana w/ the car (near A&M and it was different then) and flag down a car. Thankfully there was a broken down tire place just down the road. We get the car going and get to our seats just after kickoff. When we're down 17-0, still itching, BU threatening again just before half, I say that "they score again, I'm leaving". They don't. We come back for an epic win. Seems like yesterday.

….. and his post-game - my goodness.

If don't win on Saturday it won't be because of a lack of Elko's motivation and dedication.
We have absolutely landed one of the best coaches in the country. This is the beginning….
Yep! Fran Sumlin Jimbo Elko is the one who's finally going to get us there!

[sorry, just being a smartass although I actually do suffer from a raging case of BAS having lived through the early signs of improvement with those coaches; and yes, Sherman was intentionally omitted - I don't remember my expectations getting out over the skis with him]

Run it back a bit.

Slocum - no real expectations, it was just kind his turn

Sherrill - Through the roof, perhaps only Fran exceeded it

Wilson - low to none, given Emory's resignation

Emory Bellard - Guarded, but big expectations. Inventor of the Wishbone, first Aggie coach to aggressive recruit AA athletes. Best chance to date of winning the NC - 1975.

Not at all, of course we couldn't play a bowl game.

But, honestly, we (Aggies football fans) were only guardedly confident we were elite - That was the nadir of SWC strength. But the comment as about expectations of the coach when hired. We had more "hope" than "expectation" for Slocum.

I think RC was a great Aggie coach and the snark that is still directed at him by various people on this board is just not warranted anymore. Notwithstanding our dismal bowl record then (some of it was BAD LUCK), he did win our last championship and before that, three consecutive SWC titles and an undefeated season.

How is that snark? It was the prevailing sentiment upon his hire.
