The article says that Coach Prime does not like to hit the trail and talk to recruits, he likes to sit in his pad and work the transfer portal instead.

247 rates Colorado as 84th in the 2025 cycle. A&M is No 8.

Colorado was 22 in 2024. It may still be early but it seems like he is losing interest in Colorado and planning to decamp to the NFL with his son. If so, why would any recruit sign with him?

Interior line play is the most difficult and time-consuming project for any football program. While you may be able to blend in skill players from the portal quickly, the interior lines play as a unit. It can take multiple seasons before a program's line play becomes an asset. The Buffaloes signed only five offensive lineman in the 2023-2024 recruiting classes, that's not going to get it done.

Doing well this year but recruiting seems to be falling apart. That is a leading indicator and effects show up in a few years. He may mitigate by using the TP.

He seems to be a short term fireworks kinda guy. There is a difference in approach when you build for long term vs short term.

Our problem with Sumlin for example was that he was all short term. Prime seems to be packing his bags so doesn't want to recruit.

I guess at some point they'll eventually be right. Just haven't the first 2 years.

lol. It's easy to hate someone who acts like that, unless he represents your party/school. Then you've got to find a way to justify him. I guarantee you people aren't jealous of Prime or that it's "insecurities", such a weird thing to even suggest.

Exactly. He created a school for his son to play at in High school, jumped to Jackson state to coach him then to Colorado. I'd imagine he plans on following him again…

He has had a good season until now at 5-2 but he is doing badly on the recruiting (ranked 84). That will translate to bad seasons in the future as the quality of recruits isn't good. Of course he may overcome that by coaching them up.

Where do you see hate? Are you one of those who cannot debate/discuss without accusing people of racism or hate?

I don't think he'll be coaching at Colorado much longer. It's hard to imagine him staying motivated once his kids finish playing football in Boulder. The next coach will inherit like 5.7432 decent players.

Deion's biggest problem is that no one trusts that he'll stick around after Shedeur moves on (I purposefully didn't say "graduates") to the NFL. Deion doesn't need a j-o-b and that's what the life of a college coach is 24/7, 365.

With the portal and NIL, I'm not sure recruiting guys from high school is the best bet. You could wait and see how a guy does his first two years of college, and if he turns out to be a stud, offer a huge NIL deal and get him to transfer. Your hit rate will be much higher.

I didn't realize recruiting rankings guaranteed direct success on the field.

Tell me, how many Top 10 recruiting classes has A&M had that directly led to a national championship?

Better question Rufus, how many national champions have done poorly in recruiting the previous 3-5 years before their championship?

Indiana has recruited like crap for years. So has Vandy, BYU, Iowa State, etc.

You can win without stellar recruiting, you just have to have either a really good coach or play in a crap league.
