Sorry for the long post. I was looking at ticket prices for the tu game and the way things are shaping up, I can't imagine there will ever be more demand for a game than this. If there was ever a time to sell every single standing room only ticket possible, this is it. So I wonder, how many can they actually sell? I assume there are some kind of fire code restrictions, correct? Also, I thought someone here at some point mentioned after the renovation that there was room in the design for further expansion. Would there be enough room in the corners of the upper deck concourse to put in some temporary bleachers or something? I was also wondering what the "official" capacity is after they put the suites in the south end zone a couple of years ago. Just curious. Thanks and gig 'em!

Most certainly.

Fundamentally, the maximum occupancy is based on the occupant load which is derived from square footage, occupancy group, and then a corresponding load factor.

But you also have to have enough exits and exit width and certain dimensional requirements along the path of egress which includes our stairs and ramps. With some exceptions, you have to consider this for each area of the building and demonstrate that there is a way for those occupants to evacuate.

That along with other information is called a life-safety plan and one (or several) would have been done at the time of the the renovation. Presumably it would have been included in a permit set issued to the AHJ (City of College Station?) and would have been reviewed by a code official.

Pics of the George Strait concert kinda surprised/concerned me to be honest. If I understand right, we had a packed house in the stands and LOTS of people on the field. Then I started thinking about how that many people on the field would evacuate. I have to think A&M had a conversation with the fire marshal for that.
I was at the George Strait concert, sitting around section 125. The corridors were very packed prior to the concert, and I thought about how emergency/evacuation situations could take place. At some points it was difficult to move.

My daughter just secured a ticket to the game. She mentioned that during the Notre Dame game, there were so many on second deck that people in her section were standing front-to-back and looking sideways to see the field.

Which made me wonder about design dynamic load. How much safety factor is in the design load? ie. If everyone in SRO crammed into the stands with friends (which apparently happened at the ND game) at what point is structural integrity threatened?

I heard this echoed during LSU game. The stadium was shaking and while I'm sure it's safe there were people who wondered if structurally it was safe.

I am not a civil engineer but have worked on large projects involving massive structures. The designs are extremely conservative.

I want to go in the stadium but I don't want to make an extra mortgage payment. I'll try to score a ticket somehow otherwise I'll just be at my tailgate spot

IIRC it's like 4x safety factor

Sadly I think the guest ticket conversion policy is a money grab. 5000 guest ticket conversions is an easy $500,000

Kyle Field's largest game attendance was 110,633 people when Texas A&M lost to the Ole Miss by the score of 35-20 on October 11, 2014.

George Strait packed a few more people in.
Well they also had seats on the field, so doubtful that's happening for the game

Official capacity is 102,773 seats. They announce attendance over that by counting every concession stand worker, security officer, announcer, staff member, etc that enters the stadium.

Do they also count the players and coaching staffs?
