What's in the video?

i love our normal home unis, maroon helmet and jersey with white pants. i wish we wore those every home game.

i am cool with the alternative uniforms on the road but that's just me.

Team captains and select seniors vote on unis for the games.

For away games, they must wait til the home team decides to wear light or dark jerseys, then the visiting team must wear a jersey color that will not clash with the home jerseys.

So, yeah - if the Ags wanted to wear their icy whites (or any color combo) at home every game, they can. See LSU's tradition of White jerseys/Yellow pants at home.

FYI - some schools like Alabama (Nike), Penn State (Nike), and Auburn (UA) are very detailed in dictating to their sponsor on the design of all their unis to keep with long-standing traditions. I believe TAMU has gone this route with Adidas as well when Jimbo got to TAMU.

In fact, most schools decide on uni designs with their sponsors, not the other way around.

Same deal with helmet and helmet design sponsors (Vicis, Ridell, Shutt, Xenith, etc.)

State outline logo, not too big, no bevel, maroon helmet matches any other maroon on the uniform...

When my, now 20-year-old, son began taking Relson Gracie jiu-jitsu, where Relson would stop by at least once a year because Hawaii was his home, the kids were taught to wear white gis by the adults, also in white gis, who trained directly under Relson.

What that old geezer Relson thought with all the various color combos was - it looked like a circus.

Having left that environment and enrolled my youngest in bjj here in California where students wear white, blue, black, pink, purple, gray and all manner of combinations - I agree. It looks like a circus.

And I can say all that as a matter of opinion without being crusty or ****ting my pants

1) Super irrelevant story, but cool your kid got to meet one of the Gracies!

A&M is an Adidas school. Pretty sure this is an idea cooked up by the Adidas brand manager assigned to A&M and the A&M athletic marketing department.

Why?

Probably in the sponsorship agreement OR there was some $$ placed on the table.

It's just business.

I'm not a fan of the black out type uniforms, as I think that's played out, but plenty of other top notch programs have played around with their natural color combinations. This includes Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson and Michigan. All schools that have won national championships in recent years. In fact, I think the only schools that have won so far in the century that haven't worn an alternate are USC, Texas and Bama. I don't see why it's a big deal.

Seems like more uniform variations could mean more potential jersey sales and more revenue $$$ at a time when the athletic payroll (NIL) just went up…

Of course, this is amateur athletics we're talking about, so money certainly wouldn't be involved in any decision making…right?

A buddy of mine that works with the team said they doing all pink for breast awareness month. Should be interesting.

Yourself, Tobias and others are missing the point.

Tobias really did (i.e., tradition vs ever changing trends).

It is simply an opinion. It's as about a big deal to me as when I say a movie or song sucks (coincidentally is also entertainment, some of which is provided by college aged singers/musicians, and people have equal problems with).

Yet however apathetically an alternate opinion is stated, some people really don't like hearing them and give the strangest responses: they're just kids, it's a game, what's the big deal?

You tell me.

I simply said, it looks silly.

Without another thought (I mean there is a crude self-deprecating comment right there at the end for a hint). Is that not okay with you? What about that don't you like?

Heaven forbid someone doesn't like a contrary opinion.

We didnt really win a lot when we didnt do Alt uni's under Jimbo. When we used to do them we "kinda" won some of the times. It really doesn't matter to me.

I'd ask the players and go with whatever they feel comfortable with and with whatever they want. As long as there is an "A&M" somewhere on the Uni's Im Good.

(Don't baseball and basketball have a bunch of Alt Uni's too??)
