How long do you want to ignore this user?
Taking advantage of bye week and going to campus tour and Lsu/Ole Miss game with my son this weekend. He's applied to A&M, but has to put some back-up schools together and I told him anywhere, but Austin.

I haven't been to Baton Rouge in 10+ years so do I get a parking pass or are there cash lot options?

Thanks in advance to the grown-up reply backs!

There are cash lots in between the stadium and Alex Box (where they play baseball). Also thats where alot of the tailgating is.

Don't have any Aggie stuff on your car if you park on campus.

Are there still big lots on the north end of campus off of Nicholas or Highland? Think I've even found street parking around there before, but it's been a long time.

There are a few steps, arranged in no particular order, that you may want to consider. I pulled some guidelines from a travel agency that deals with the Middle East, and Africa, as those locations are equivalent to Baton Rouge.

1) Don't leave anything of value in the vehicle.

2) Make sure you're up date on vaccinations (hep a/b, typhoid, yellow fever, rabies)

3) In certain areas like Baton Rouge, malaria is present. If visiting these areas, consider taking antimalarial medications, and use insect repellent and mosquito nets.

4)Tap water is generally safe in urban areas but stick to bottled or boiled water in rural areas.

5)Be aware of local safety guidelines, as certain urban areas may have higher crime rates.

Consult with a travel health clinic or your healthcare provider 4-6 weeks before your trip to ensure you have the latest recommendations and sufficient time for vaccinations.

Take an Uber and don't bother, also leave early or plan to stay late/ walk hella far to get picked back up.

If you pass the giant RV tailgates look for the little purple school bus and grab some food.

It ain't all that bad.

There are no cash lots on LSU campus anymore for football games. The lots inside of Nicholson and Highland Roads are all prepaid season ticket lots.

You can look on SeatGeek (official ticket reseller for LSU) and find parking passes, but they won't be cheap. The least expensive passes are right around Alex Box Stadium.

There are free places to park east of Highland Road especially around the Parker Coliseum, west of campus from the softball field to River Road and south, plus the golf course driving range across from Alex Box Stadium. (They should use the golf course for parking because it's so bad) anything north of campus is free, but the neighborhood 3 blocks north is sketchy.

Get there early and roam the campus and you probably can find tailgate parties that will be happy to have you stop by. Also restaurants just north of campus on Highland (Chimes, etc) and Walkons are available, but will be very busy.

There used to be a shuttle service from downtown BR and also Lauberge Casino to Tiger Stadium. But the inept city-parish bus system ran out of money to run buses this season.

If you can get anywhere near Lod Cook alumni center next to sorority row (Lakeshore) & the recreation center, let me know and I can get you on the alumni shuttle starting at 430.

Please, whatever you do, do NOT roll up in this. Your car will not be there when you get back!!
