So games were altered, people living through nightmares where 15 yard penalties were assessed on the kickoff, or TDs were prevented, etc.......

Yet here we are with mini-NFL celebrations and dances and football flips near spikes with NO PENALTIES and no announcers even saying "wow, they really danced and twerked well in the end zone after that score!"

When did the NCAA decide to screw all of the targeting people but let "excessive celebration" penalties be just another part of pay for play?

in before - "olds just don't like progress".........no, olds just don't like ruining games and then pooping on the games that were ruined by ignoring existing RULES or overturning them. What gives?

Scoring in front of 100k + a few million more watching is pretty damn exciting no matter how many times you've done it. Let em celebrate - be respectful (I know there's an implied gray area there) - but celebrate.

The old rules were dumb. Game winning TDs were called back because a player excitedly threw a ball in the air. Dumb dumb dumb rule.

Targeting is frustrating but designed around player safety. The comparison is ridiculous.

Yeah I don't think the players are twerking after a touchdown. If that starts happening in mass I might get on your side.

Celebrating is a human emotion. Most fans celebrate in the stands or in their homes, but the people actually scoring aren't supposed to celebrate?

I get what you're saying about the elaborate synchronized dancing, but generally speaking I don't care about celebrating.

So I can spike a football in college as part of a "celebration" and not get a penalty but I'm the one with the problem when this was "excessive celebration" and a penalty?
What is wrong with anyone who can't see how silly that is?

Penalties for excessive celebration was always the second worst rule in college football (the first being a fumble out of the end zone turning the ball over to the other team, of course).

so you say the rules changed and excessive celebration is no longer a rule/penalty?
do you like when the players from a team get together and act like they are taking a piss in the end zone?

Probably when the dudes with that got head injuries from targeted started off-ing themselves due to the CTE injuries????

But yea, who cares if they kill themselves AFTER they're no longer playing a sport you like to watch. Amirte, OP????

agreed.
obviously, "celebrations" are normal human emotion (EXCEPT in THE ZOO).. ;-)

I should have more clearly labeled this "dancing" or "play acting in a group in the end zone".
I used "celebration" because that is what the NCAA called it in their don't do rules.

Yes the rules changed. Excessive celebration is no longer a penalty. Unsportsmanlike conduct still is. Doing what you just described, if its obvious, has been consistently flagged. You're quite obtuse my friend.

there is no question that boxing should be banned, just like "targeting"......who is going to step up and get rid of boxing? You responder?

No problem with celebrations on TDs.

Wouldn't mind some penalty when defensive players celebrate after stopping a 7+-yard run though.

I watched the Shawshank redemption too....great movie.
However, the use of 'obtuse' died with the movie just like amateur football apparently.
I have changed my mind interacting with the intelligent zoo responders......I think every college kid should throw the football into the crowd after any score even a field goal.

well, tattoos haven't ever caused a game to be lost because of 15 yard penalties whenever the judgement call is made by a referee....so they aren't part of any issues, at least that's my take
