Interestijg point. CCG adds one game not in the 12-game CFP. If you win that and are P4 you are reasonable expecting if 0 or 1 loss to get a bye. Byes are against first round winners and are quarterfinals. Then semi then finals. So 12+1+3.
Anyone in a CCG that loses can be in no man's land, but expect SEC and B1G to push for access for them. So they slot in the first round and have to win four to be NC for 12+1+4.
I expect all non-P4 annual fifth conference qualifier will have played a CCG so they in effect are same path as P4 runnerups.
Non-CCG participants actually are well positioned to surprise CCG participants because they have one few games especially if a home team in first round. 12+0+4. CCG runner up is at a disadvantage against them just based on total games played. Games against good teams will cause more injuries. Unavoidable.
