That depth chart is meaningless

As long as he's hurt and questionable every week, I'd assume Conner will be listed as qb1 unless a decision is made to name reed the permanent qb1

No reason to do that while Conner is hurt, that way you keep both guys engaged

The ideal scenario would be to rest Weigman this week and play Reed at home to get another game experience before our upcoming SEC games. Then hopefully Weigman will be healthy enough by the Arkansas game to give us 2 QBs to utilize as needed.

Elko is an idiot if he starts CW

I feel bad for the kid, he's been snake bit his whole career but he's not the answer anymore. Focus on Reed and the future because CW will never deliver that kind of performance against a a real defense (McNeese was basically a scrimmage against air)

Actually it would be worse as far as handling of QBs. Jimbo kept putting King out there in 2022 without Max or Weigman ever playing at the start of the season. If CW were to start this week it would be after CW playing bad at home Vs ND and Reed winning and playing good at Florida just the week prior.

Would be coaching malpractice.

The coaching staff could make a lot of this potential controversy go away by simply doing the right thing, and I think they will. They should not play Connor until his shoulder is completely healed. That is the right thing for Connor and the right thing for the team. In the mean time, they will be able to find out if Reed is the real deal or just a flash in the pan. If there is an opportunity to get Henderson some reps, even better. When Connor's shoulder is healed, it will be easier to make the call either for or against Reed. Be patient. A lot of things can happen in the next few weeks. Reed is skinny as a rail and about to go into an SEC schedule. We may end up playing everybody in the QB room.

Agree completely.

Let Conner heal up - even if you DO still think he's the starter, give Reed this week to see if he can run the offense and repeat what he did last week (or improve), or if he suddenly falls down to a level that suggests this past weekend was just an outlier.

Why?

I'll tell why I would have an issue with it. Play calling and playbook. Klein did not use it all with CW. He did with Reed. Looked like his offense at K State.

I have several other areas as well but just this one alone makes it an obvious choice.

That being said. I will be surprised if Reed is not the starter Saturday.

The players saw what we saw Saturday. Elko runs the risk of losing the team if he starts CW. It doesn't just happen in LL baseball, select baseball and high school sports. It happens in the collegiate ranks as well. Money talks.

Besides the team. He would make the fanbase mad as well.

This is a no brainer for Elko. Not bc the fan base would get mad, bc it's just obvious for him and what Klein will state is best.

Reed will start.
