Murderers row right there. Maybe Pepperdine women's rugby will join as a provisional team for football.

It's like the old Pac-8 with Beavers and Wazzu reprising USC and UCLA before they let the Arizona schools also beat up on the northern 6…

When the ACC blows up, I bet Cal and Stanford end up back in the Pac. Add a combo or all of Wyoming, Nevada, San Jose, New Mexico, and NMSU and the conference will have enough mid tier teams to rival Big 12 but a much stronger regional footprint.

It's just too crazy, we have two schools on the Pacific coast who are now members of a conference named "The Atlantic Coast Conference."

And a team in Texas.

Little known fact: UA-Little Rock has competed in the Pac-12 since 2019. UALR competes in wrestling, but since it isn't a Sun Belt conference sport, it has wrestled in the Pac, along with only 3 other schools.

When I played Men's club soccer at TAMU (during our final Big 12 years), we were actively trying to get the school to allow us to compete in Conference USA as a varsity sport. Kentucky and South Carolina are both currently doing this for men's soccer

I agree. Once the B1G and SEC go their own way, I think we'll see the lower tier conferences create their own mini "mega-conference" which will then be broken up into more regional divisions again. That will actually be good for college football because it can bring back the regional rivalries that made it fun to begin with.

I put a spreadsheet together before the Texas and OU to SEC went public. It had 4 16-team conferences. SEC, BIG, PAC, and ACC. Each split into 4 team divisions - east, west, north, and south. Each team would play..

3 - division opponents
6 - 2 from each of the other divisions
3 - 1 team from each of the other conferences

You would get enough regional ties each year to satisfy regional eyeballs. You would get enough inter-conference ties each year to satisfy bigger regional exposure and would never go more than 2 years without playing someone in your own conference. And it gave 3 games against other conferences spreading each of them out around the different regions of the country.

You would have a postseason that went..

Week 1 - 16 teams - Best division winner from each conference plays worst division winner. 2 plays 3.
Week 2 - 8 teams - Conference championship
Week 3 - 4 teams - Best conference winner vs worst and 2 vs 3
Week 4 - 2 teams - Championship game

What made it difficult was filling out the conferences with quality teams. SEC and BIG - no problem. ACC and PAC were obviously weaker. But with the 3 non-conference games and no gimmee games, even those teams would have shown enough early on to prove themselves or not.

I'll try and find the spreadsheet.

Colorado State is the sips marquee OOC win, and one of the few games they didn't need the zebras to assist them to victory.

Michigan on the road ended up being decent too at 8-5 (with victories over Ohio St., Alabama, and Minnesota).
