Be realistic.

At Florida - Loss
Bowling Green - Loss
Vs Arkansas - Loss
Mizzou - Win
At Ms State - Loss
LSU - Loss
At South Cacka Lacky - Win
New Mexican Aggies - Loss
At Auburn - Loss
Sips - Loss

We'll finish 3-9, no bowl. Retool offense, fire Collin Klein, and get a new QB.

Sucks to suck.
Thanks and Gig'em!

Unlike most of you I'm not changing expectations after 1 game. ND was always going to be tough and McNeese showed us nothing.

Are there concerns? Of course but it's too early to say they are legitimate or just 1st game new coach struggles or season long struggles.

As of now I'm still saying 9-3. We will know more after Saturday.

Just curious where you think 9 wins are coming from?

Vegas win total for us right now is at 7.5. Sounds like a lot of very confident people should go place their paycheck on the line, given how certain they are.

I think our ceiling this year is four wins. We are really, really bad. I think most people who have more experience with the game of football than a Nintendo controller see this. Scattered, disorganized, talentless, unconditioned, all things you don't want to see. Elko probably won't make it here four years.

I know the response is always "I'm not a gambler" when asked if people would back these crazy statements up, but if someone put a gun to your head and said guess the number of wins this season... your guess would not be 4 wins.

No, it would be three.

I was being optimistic in my post.

ETA: I think we beat Auburn and New Mexico which gets us to three. Lose the rest.
Let's make a bet on it, right now. If we win more than three games, you have to put "I am an idiot. No one should listen to my opinions" in your signature for a calendar year. If we win 3 or less, I have to do that. Deal?
Everyone on here should already know that. No need for him to put that on his posts.

Being that I am almost categorically wrong about all football predictions ... here it goes:

At Florida - Loss
Bowling Green - Loss
Vs Arkansas - Loss
Mizzou - Loss
At Ms State - Loss
LSU - Loss
At South Cacka Lacky - Loss
New Mexican Aggies - Loss
At Auburn - Loss
Sips - Loss

If CW does not DRASTICALLY improve
(seeing the open receivers, completion %, and INTs)……

At Florida - Loss
Bowling Green - Toss up but likely Win
Vs Arkansas - Loss
Mizzou - Loss
At Ms State - Loss (because we always find a way)
LSU - Loss
At South Cacka Lacky - Win
New Mexican Aggies - Win
At Auburn - Loss
Sips - Loss

Reed and/or Henderson can surely get 7 wins, but beating Florida is one of those 7.

Can CW turn things around? Nobody knows for sure.

Elko will have to pull him before it is too late or Florida wins this game!

Biggest fear is Elko rides with CW no matter how he plays.

Could we really end up 1-7 in conference, maybe 3-5 if a team gifts us a victory or two?

I tend to think 7-5 would be acceptable at this point. Don't thing Weedman is a legit SEC QB.

I love these little nuggets like this here. The knee-jerk reactions are entertaining to watch.

Weigman had one really terrible game and you get these expert views on field vision etc. Weigman has never been below average at coverage recognition. Not in high school, not in his brief collegiate career, with the exception of the one game in which he was returning from a catastrophic injury that cost him most of a season. An injury where having some doubts in your mind about the pocket chaos and whether or not you were going to get any protection are completely natural instincts. All the while having to step-in against one of the nations best defenses with a consensus top level secondary.

Likewise, Weigman has never been anything but a ++ accuracy thrower and proficient with ball security. I sit center of the goalpost elevated because I like the full 22 perspective. Weigman missed five open opportunities (one of which was a very bad interception) in the Notre Dame game and completed 12 out of 30 attempts. Everything else available to him was a highly contested route because ND handled our route tree and receiving corps very effectively. It was the worst game Conner has played. There is no doubt he'll have to make some of those contested throws, get settled down and we'll have to have better concepts for route separation for us to beat the better teams on our schedule, but some of you need to get some perspective on body of work.

Conner was as good as you can be in the McNeese game (competition level acknowledged). The all 22 showed very efficient play. All these internet "missing open receiver" guys are just making things up in reaction to the one really bad game he's had. He had 3 incompletions one of which was one of the best throws I've seen this season and was dropped in the end zone. Don't want to accept it from me? Pro Football Focus was in agreement.

You guys can give up on Conner, that's your prerogative. If you do though, you might as well dust off your golf clubs and oil your guns, because he's your best chance, by far to have a good season. No one else on the roster can make the throws and distribute the ball like he can. Elko knows it, Klein knows it, anyone who knows what they're looking at knows it.

meh,

We'll win against NM and Bowling Green. (you Nancies that think we'll lose those games need to grow a pair).

The rest of the games are "pick'ems". Even the game against Texas. Win some, lose some, and we'll come out slightly better than .500.

Too bad, though, that our schedule gets more difficult next year (I think).

ND - thought we would win but then CW didn't show up
Mcneese- easy win

At Florida - Win
Bowling Green - Win
Vs Arkansas - Win
Mizzou - Loss
At Ms State - Win
LSU - Win
At South Cacka Lacky - Loss
New Mexican Aggies - Win
At Auburn - Win
Sips - Toss up

Looking like 8-4

As I said before, 8-4 with win over tu is a good year. 8-4 with a loss against texas is the neutral position for me.

7-5 with a texas win would feel better but still not good, 8-4 means we lost the games we were supposed to lose and vice versa

So my range is 5-7 to 8-4.

I said 8-4 before the season.

Mrs. Weigman

"The knee-jerk reactions are entertaining to watch."

Nothing knee jerk about it! Your sunshine pumping diatribe is nothing more than a typical fan-boy reaction, probably gleaned from some website or app on your phone!

Take off the rose colored glasses! Stats don't lie and
padding stats against inferior opponents tells you very little.

Bottom line is that CW, against "Big Boy" football teams….

Well, you know the answer! (or at least should)

I still think 6-6 but 4-8 is certainly possible. Elko might end up being the guy, but not if he stays tethered to Klein. Nothing about Klein's system so far incites confidence.
1-11 is possible, but it isn't likely. Just like 4-8 isn't. There's about 1 % chance of 4-8 or worse happening. Not even worth discussing.

Many, many knowledgeable people around college football like Klein a lot. I think you are off on your assessment of him, but he does have more to prove moving forward.

Somewhere out of 8 of the remaining 10 games on our schedule.

What amazes me is you'll call out the guy predicting 9 wins (far more realistic) than the guy(s) predicting 3/4 wins (far less realistic than 9).

I'm personally in between the two predictions as of now, but gun to my head, I'd say 9-3 is more likely than 4-8. And all vegas lines, game predictions, etc., would concur.

As per usual, this board is on the extreme kick right now. Things are almost never as good or as bad as they seem. The truth is usually in the middle. While we aren't as good as some were hoping, we are nowhere near as bad as a lot of the 3/4 win predictions on this thread. We'll likely know a lot more over the next 3 weeks. By the Arkansas game, we should have a much better feel for what a realistic prediction is.

For now, I'll stick with 8-4 as I predicted to begin the year. If we drop Florida, I'll be at 6-6/7-5. I'm still a long way off from saying 4 wins is likely, because right now, it simply isn't. Beat Florida and Arkansas, and 9-3 comes back into play.

I am hopeful as the next guy, but I don't see the OL line push. I don't see WR separation. QB play.

Def is a better, but we will be exposed against Ol Piss and tu.

I hope they find a way to win them all.

It seems that CW is a mismatch for Klien's offense. Klein needs a tough, dual threat pounding type qb. CW is afraid to get hurt again. I don't blame him in a way..i had foot surgery and it totally sucks. However, his Fear… Unfounded or not… Is not going to cut it for this offensive scheme

The 9+ win guys won't tell us where the wins they're predicting are coming from because they think Mizzou and LSU will be easy wins at home and they won't. They think we can go on the road and beat underperforming SEC teams at their place but we haven't proven the ability to do that. They think we'll somehow dig deep and beat surging Ole Miss and sip teams.

It's all hope and prayer with no logic or common sense

I watched the entire BG/PSU game. I think QB Bazelak and hybrid receiver Fannin are going to be a nightmare for the linebackers. This feels very much like Appalachian State or maybe even Arkansas State.

We were all drinking some yummy maroon Kool-Aid to start the season, but then it gave us green diarrhea.

Now that we've washed it out of our system and sobered up, let's re-make season record predictions:

I think our floor is 6-6 at this point. Plenty of winnable games on the schedule, and the SEC as a whole does not impress me that much (very top-heavy). Nine wins is still very possible, but it would take a lot of things going in our favor to make it happen. So here's my best guess:

At Florida - Win
Bowling Green - Win
Vs Arkansas - Toss-up, but I lean loss
Mizzou - Win
At Ms State - Loss
LSU - Win
At South Cacka Lacky - Win
New Mexican Aggies - Win
At Auburn - Toss-up, but I lean win
Sips - Loss

I think we finish 8-4, with a good showing in a lame bowl; so not a major departure from historical averages, but also not a major drop off in year one which some predicted.

What say you?
You don't beat Mizzou and lose to Arkie. That's just dumb.
